One last hurdle. Obviously the votes aren’t there to overturn the election. So does Pence go for it with this notion that the Vice President gets to decide everything?
President Biden: 95%
President Pelosi: 4%
President Trump: 1%

Not even 1%. I am comfortable saying no chance. Its over. It has been over. All this is political theater by guys trying to fight for trump's scraps and nothing more
either trump is a fucking moron and believes pence has the power or he's just saying "i hope he comes through for us" so he has another person to throw under the bus when he loses for a 472nd time.
the fact that trump and pence had lunch yesterday trying to look at ways pence could delay or stop the certification is tantamount to conspiracy to commit treason.

A former repub house member was advocating for impeachment even after they’re out of office so at the least the US could claim there are consequences for anti-democratic behavior by elected officials. But, ‘Murica.

F impeachment, I want to see people go to jail.

Moscow Mitch can't force Biden to hire a soft AG. Biden needs to hire someone that's going to uncover everything and go after the truth (and, by extension, the administration and much of the party). The Dems need to get nasty, now. It's important that the blatant criminal activity be punished so hopefully the next GOP administration isn't a treasonous mafia operation.

And swept in repub control of all three branches of government for generations to come! How’s that fruit from the poisonous tree tasting? Where’s spiking the football guy? Too bad CYA Barr doesn’t have a 4 pager synopsis of how all these elections were stolen, eh?

What an incredible election process we have. I imagine this is the first time that this ceremony has ever been televised with the possible exception of C-SPAN. How tedious, and only two months after the election.

i've never watched it until now. and hopefully never will again. until this year, i didn't even know this was the process. i'm guessing many of trump's "patriots" also had no clue. and maybe still don't.

Nah, the same guy from shop class that was an epidemiologist most of this year was also secretly a constitutional lawyer.

It's in the Constitution that it takes place on the 6th day of January.

I’m aware of that. It’s just so long, dragged-out, and tedious.

With the benefit of retrospect, and now seeing Trump go about things, it's pretty dumb that the election occurs, and then the new president takes office over three months later. Look at it from both perspectives. Imagine losing your job, but being expected to stick around for three months to help the new guy transition into your job? Or, imagine being someone who got hired for a job, but has to wait three months. Now sometimes that is the case; maybe you'll be subjected to background checks or training in the time between being hired and beginning work. But rarely will the guy you're replacing have the opportunity to undermine you as you're transitioning in.
Of course, these are Trump-specific problems. The most recent one-term presidents (Bush Sr. and Carter) didn't act like this towards the guy that beat them. Most people wouldn't. But if Trump can be president, anybody can, so something like this could happen again.

i've been saying this for years. in a parliamentary system, you win the election, you're PM immediately. next day.
it has never made sense to me to allow the loser to remain for 3 months. absolutelyt bizarre.
under normal circumstances, functioning adults with some sense of duty and responsibility execute the transition.
There are a lot of moving parts to a transition. Lots of preparation, staff, etc. There are also the number of procedural hurdles to certify/verify the election.
With that said, I would love the whole process to be shrunk down. The presidential election shouldnt take 2+ years.
