I don't have a least favourite song on Gigaton. Do you?

Retrograde is still the only one that hasn’t clicked for me yet

Buckle Up is edgeing towards skip territory. I've tried. Sounds like a rejected idea from the 2nd side of Moonlander, but obv the band disagrees.  Hardto believe the same guy that wrote Black, In Hiding, Thin Air, and countless other ones.... And this is his main contribution

Ofc this is all IMO. Just love Gigaton, overall. What a gift in a dark and shitty time.

Yes but I'm not sure if it's Take The Long Way or River Cross. Like a lot/love everything else.

Comes then Goes. To me, it just doesn’t fit on the airy and atmospheric album. After buckle up (which is one of my favs actually), the album would have felt better with another rocker in its place to pick thinks back up before the slower retrograde and river cross. river cross is second for me, I think the kalimba kind of ruins the song, it’s very distracting, I just wanna hear Ed and the organ.

    I agree with the OP.

I think it's a very consistent album & I don't feel the need or want to skip any tracks although if pushed I would start the album at the 5th song. It's Pearl Jam to me & very welcome at this time.

Buckle up reminds me of wishlist sort of. I love every song on Gigaton. It’s so great. I have nothing bad to say. But I bettcha “quick escape” was originally “gigaton”

the only thing I hate is I downloaded to my iPhone and I can’t just let it play

  • Retrograde minus the awesome outro, sounds way too much like Sirens to me which I hated.  But 11/12 is pretty good!

buckle up for me as well.  might be my least favorite (serious) song they've put on an album.

    Nope

although Comes and Goes is such heavy subject matter that i skip it sometimes to get to Retrograde.

    Great tune tho.  Great tribute

comes then goes / Alright.  Comes then Goes is rising after many weeks of listens.  Alright is falling.  To each his/her own the board is fairly well divided on this matter!

Buckle Up for me. I’ve listened to the album 5 or 6 times now. I find the album to be very similar to Backspacer and Lightning Bolt - a good strong start but then loses it’s way midway through. The three of these albums sound like they could have all been recorded at the same time. Gigaton is better than Backspacer but I think Lightning Bolt on the whole is a stronger album.

I’d say gigaton is better than lightning bolt and a little better than backspaced. I like it more than avocado. Riot Act is my favorite but I’m enjoying gigaton a ton. Yield and Binural are from a different era. And Ten Vs Vitology and No Code. Are kinda like a different band altogether

but all in all I feel blessed to grow up with Pearl Jam. And I truly feel gigaton is perfect

Hard to believe there’s so many Comes then Goes votes here. It’s as close to classic Ed songwriting as the album gets, in my mind. I skip forward to listen to it
  • Buckle Up is my least favorite and not really a fan of it at all.  Feel like Take the Long Way is underrated.

Agreed. This song is perfectly written, recorded, performed and produced. It’s the warmest section of the album.

Take the Long Way feels out of place, both songwriting and production-wise. -sounds thin like foo fighters wasting light.
Retrograde also a low point, Sirens 2.0.

Cut those two songs and you’d have a leaner, better record.

Buckle up. The lyrics sound way too literal or something, as though it's actually a song about buckling up for safety, so it always feels a bit silly. It's not absolutely terrible - I wouldn't bother skipping it while listening to the album - but I could do without it.
That's it though. I really like the rest of the album.

Surprised that, of the two back-to-back rockers, Never Destination is getting an easier time than Take The Long Way here.   I find the latter way more interesting, with its Soundgardenesque time signature.   Never Destination just sounds like a generic Backspacer era Pete Townshend retread to me.....

    Buckle up
    Alright
    River Cross

These will probably be skipped the most by me.

    Damn good album though.

Buckle Up ruins the flow just like Pry to, Help, Help, Parachutes, Speed of Sound, and Sleeping by Myself. Why does Pearl Jam always do that?
Agree on the broken flow comment. Every time I hear it I feel like I’m at the part of a live set list where people start talking over a song. It’s not bad, it’s just out of place on the record.
