Other thing with these SiriusXM contests is I think they pay attention to the zip codes of entrants/subscribers for the "random" draw.
I won tickets to Phish December 2019 for their show in Philly through the online entry part.  My zip code at the time was in the Philly suburbs.  At the show, talking to other winners, pretty much every one of them who didn't win by calling in were from Philadelphia region.  I think SiriusXM more likely to pick winners who live closer and travel much less likely to be a barrier so they can better manage the number of people who show up and know how the seats will be allocated.  Much more reliable for them to have a local winner than someone across the country who needs to figure out flights, lodging, time off from work, etc on 2 weeks notice for non-transferable tickets.
When the Apollo contest came up ~February 2020 I changed the address on my SiriusXM account to my friend's address in NYC.  Sure enough I got picked in the online lotto for Apollo.
SiriusXM would send out regular contest emails along the lines of "tickets to see what you love" with a lot of local shows based on where you live.  When I had the NYC zip code would get ones for up there all the time.  With the Philadelphia area zip code would get Philly shows.   I think they use those to sort out the entries to help determine the winners.

My guess would be that more people from the region enter the raffle and that those having to travel would pass.

Years ago Arcade Fire played a tony venue in Queens NY and fans got tix when they entered a raffle.  There was a questionnaire where you could put how much you loved the band and what attending the show would mean to you.  I phoned it in and wasn't chosen.  My wife spent a great deal of time writing about her fandom and was chosen (to my benefit lol).  I wish Sirius and PJ could have done something similar here.

Apollo holds 1506 people.  There was only 80 tickets made available with call in contest according to this screen shot i had of rules. Not sure how many were available in additional mail in contest.
This gave me the shivers, lol. Like staring at an old test I failed😅

2013 I won the grand prize for the SiriusXM PJ Town Hall (LB release) including flights and 2-night hotel; I live in Atlanta.  15 other pairs of tickets were also given out without hotel/flight.  A few of those pairs came from outside the US.

I had been a Sirius subscriber for over 7 years when Howard Stern moved to them.  I think that helped me win.

We were all a little ticked that the band didn't play a single note at the event, and the whole thing was kinda rushed.

Some of their contests I've seen had a multiple choice trivia question to help separate real fans.
The original Feb-March 2020 Pearl Jam one asked which show the band first played the album Ten in its entirety.  They had 2016 Philly show as a teaser choice but the right answer was an old one from Germany.
The Phish 2019 contest had a trivia question asking which Greek island did two of the bandmates spend a summer living on the beach before they formed the band.

Sorry, I should have included some type of punctuation:

I had been a Sirius subscriber for over 7 years; when Howard Stern moved to them.

  • Have any of the ticket winners from 2020 received further details from Sirius?  Wondering whether we will receive tickets in advance?

Nothing yet. I’m guessing we’ll hear something later this week or early next week. I’m also guessing there will be no physical tickets and our names will just be on a list, but we’ll see.

10 years ago (!) I won Sirius XM tickets to see Ed and I had to go to the box office the day of to pick up my tickets. I went early because I needed to see where my seats were. They may do it very differently now.

    Nothing yet either.
For Phish in 2019 got final instructions for check in about a week before the show.   For that one there was pickup window 12p-5p.  Doors opened 6p w/ show start 7:30p.  Checking old email from March 2020 for Pearl Jam contest there was check in window planned 6:30-7:30 w/ show start 8.  That email went out about 3 weeks ahead of what would've been the show date before postponed.
For Phish, winner had to be there with his/her plus one and check in together.  They gave you physical tickets then.  Ticket location seemed to be randomly allocated and didn't matter when you showed up (like it would for a regular GA show).  They had envelope with winner's name so seemed like seat assignments were already pre-determined.  You got a SiriusXM event lanyard and they also put a wristband on so couldn't really transfer tickets once you checked in.  Once inside everyone got a poster (although it wasn't as nice usual show posters people used to chasing).  Some event/tour merch on sale inside; nothing outside.
