Uncle Bruce plays multiple shows at Giants Stadium/ MetLife, even though they put on a great show, it gets watered down. Fenway is more intimate, but I will always prefer an arena. 2018's Home/ Away is the max amount of stadiums PJ should play. It sounds like there will be another leg of this tour in the fall/ winter into 2021. I can see them coming back to play the midwest and other markets that got skipped on this run.
For all intents and purposes, the north east got skipped this tour.
My guess for that....besides just general timing...
1. I think they KINDA wanted to see how this tour would go with the new process, before adding a bunch more dates or bigger venues. As such...adding one or two massively popular shows (Nyc, bal) with little else around would give them a good measuring stick. This tour kinda has it all. MSG with massive demand, OKC with the least demand, a couple of double dates (la, oak), etc. 2. Philly ballpark, Fenway for fall, with additional NE dates, as well as more midwest (chicago) and NW dates. Prob Wrigley, Safeco, etc.
Prefer arena, but soldier field was amazing. I think red rocks would be insanely good.
Soldier Field 7-11-95, Alpine Valley 6-26-98, United Center 6-29-98, Riverport Amphitheater (St. Louis)7-2-98, MGM Grand Arena 10-22-00, Sprint Center (Kansas City)5-3-10, Adams Event Center (Missoula)9-30-12, Wrigley Field 7-19-13, Jobing.com Arena (Phoenix)11-19-13, Moda Center (Portland)11-29-13, Spokane Arena 11-30-13, Pepsi Center (Denver)10-22-14, Gila River Arena (Phoenix)5-9-22, Moody Center (Austin)9-18-23, Moody Center 9-19-23, Rogers Arena (Vancouver)5-4-24, Rogers Arena 5-6-24, MGM Grand 5-16-24, MGM Grand 5-18-24, Wrigley Field 8-29-24, Wrigley Field 8-31-24
Not sure how an MLS stadium is much better than baseball / football stadiums for this purpose. MLS usually has less seating and smaller confines, but is still outdoor and thus dealing with weather and logistical concerns (e.g. no built in rafters) that arenas avoid. Not sure how it helps, for a band that can sell out a huge stadium.
Aren't most newer stadiums built with seats that face towards midfield? Sure, we stand most of the time but that is a tough angle when the stage is at the wrong end.

Isn’t that the same for basketball/hockey arenas?
Maybe. I've never noticed it as much since those are significantly smaller.
The guys aren't going to tour as much as they used to. We all have to come to grips with that. They are older, have families and I'm sure want to do other things in life. Playing large stadiums is just not something they prefer to do for extended tours and I don't blame them. The amount of people that want to see them play vs the amount of seats per show is clearly a huge imbalance (especially in densely populated areas). Therefore, there folks are going to be disappointed as they cannot please everyone. I think the process has improved in trying to get tickets out of the hands of scalpers - only so much that can be done there and we always have just assume that they will find a way to get a certain % of tickets and we just deal with it. Consider that the cost of doing business while touring. I do think ticketmaster can add a "best available option" though :-)
I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on....
They should just play in large fields. If you put all the sests in a circle and move them far enough back, everyone is in the front row, too. Solving a lot of problems that way.
I think there being no Boston or Philly show really drove this MSG show demand way up, on top of the already high demand that it is. Would be nice to see Hartford, Buffalo and Albany make a return but I think those days are over.
