I preferred the days without an opener (I'd rather sit and have a conversation to pass the time than watch a band I don't know/care about), but I don't think this'll make PJ's sets shorter. I'll just get there slightly later than I used to since I know PJ can't decide to come out at 7pm if there's an opener in that slot already.

PJ has mentioned in interviews / fan club newsletters before that they pick their openers. Ed's solo shows are still in the 3 hr range, so I don't think we'll see shorter sets. In fact, I'm guessing and hoping we'll see the return of Ed doing 2 or 3 song pre-sets before the openers / joining the openers in their last song or 2 at some shows to make crowds more inclined to be there early. Side note - I think it would make for a fun and fascinating newsletter article to go over which band member picked each opener they've had over the years, and what made them select that act.
