Think the days of the band playing 3hr+ sets (evening w/Pearl Jam) are gone. They are all in their mid 50's now so prob easier to have a support & play shorter sets fora tour."Bring it back, to the clean form. To the pure form"

I think they bit off more than they could chew trying to become Bruce Springsteen.
And it's a tradition in rock to have openers. So whatevz."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

What's the problem?
Has it really been 10 years since PJ had an opener (in the US)?
Nope. I seen Mudhoney open for Pearl Jam back in 2013 @ Portland, Spokane, Vancouver & Seattle. PJ still played for over 3 hours @ all those 4 shows.

Anyone playing for f**king two and a half hours, he's mental. I think the perfect time for the gig for me is an hour and 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and that's me pushing it. An hour, perfect.

As if you'd want PJ to just play an hour... only because Liam is lazy af, PJ don't have to be. I'm sure he still wants to charge a 3 hour price thoughSpiritual_Chaos said:Anyone playing for f**king two and a half hours, he's mental. Sounds like Liam is just lazy and doesn’t have a deep catalogueSpiritual_Chaos said:Anyone playing for f**king two and a half hours, he's mental. I think the perfect time for the gig for me is an hour and 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and that's me pushing it. An hour, perfect.

I assumed an opener was a part of the "we got more seats for 10C folk negotiations.
Not necessarily a bad thing, I was just getting used to strolling in at 7:55pm, grabbing my beer and getting hyped as hell

Not sure of the real reason, but they are friends with the RHCP and this gives Josh an opportunity to showcase his solo stuff now that he’s out of the band. Since Jack and the RHCP helped out Pearl Jam, maybe they are just paying it forward.0

Gave them an honest listen. The singer was terrible. The music was more of a lay in a field drop lsd or eat mushrooms and stare at the stars vibe. It made me sleepy. Doesnt really set the energy for a PJ show. Not bad music but doesn't do much to get people hyped. I'll soend my time getting beers and merch if I'm not GA.
Just selecting an opener because you are buds is odd.0 -
The Porch is officially insane! People are nuts totally nuts and to top it off there’s 16 fucking threads about one song ...jesus greets me looks just like me ....0

If you're selling out shows regardless, that's the perfect way to pick an openerjimjam1982 said:

It's a great way for legacy bands to give new bands a leg up. Helps with their exposure. Not sure why people need to complain about EVERYTHING. Just let the band do what they want to do and enjoy.Calgary, Alberta (1993) / Missoula, Montana (2003) / Calgary, Alberta (2005) / Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (2005) /Chicago, Illinois (2007) / Calgary, Alberta, (2009) / Calgary, Alberta (2011) / Calgary, AB (2013) / Missoula, Montana (2018) / Vancouver, BC (2024)0
