I saw today that both Florida and Tennessee have pending Anti-LGBTQ legislation.
I don't understand what these republican politicians are so afraid of.
Florida Republicans submit 4 anti-gay bills on last day to file. https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/florida-republicans-file-4-anti-gay-bills-last-day-session-n1116256

Welp, I'm glad I opted for STL over Nashville."A smart monkey doesn't monkey around with another monkey's monkey" - Darwin's Theory0

I’m so tired of the party of small government using government to keep people from human rights.

No shit. I plan on going to both shows & it's dumb shit like this that creates a Raleigh situation all over again.darwinstheory said:Welp, I'm glad I opted for STL over Nashville.
Get it together, Tennessee.

This was my first thought... Nashville cancelled.darwinstheory said:Welp, I'm glad I opted for STL over Nashville. It’s amazing how powerful the religious right is in the states... just couldn’t fathom living in that environment.0 -
good thing i decided to go west instead of to nashville."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

sure hope I get tickets to Nashville...and I really hope they play still. It’s the next concert set to go with my daughter. Ironically, raleigh was going to be our first show together.hippiemom = goodness0

^^^They kind of hit the nail on the head with this one. Although it didn't appear on an album until 1992, Amy Ray wrote it in 1984 while witnessing and dealing with the racism, sexism and homophobia that permeated the place. It's 35 years later, and the song is still as relevant as ever.
And Florida continues to reassure me that I'll never return home to visit my family again. And my favorite member of my family, my grandmother, my daughter's namesake, is probably going to die soon. It makes me sad.

Because once I get there, I would need to rent a car. At some point, I'd need to fill up the tank in that rental. Oh yeah, and I'd likely get hungry and have to eat something. I'll also need a place to sleep. All of those things are taxed, which is revenue for a state legislature that supports arming educators and discriminating against LGBTQ+ citizens. That's something I cannot in good conscience do. In the grand scheme of things, this legislation affects ~20 million people; my friends and family in Florida number maybe 40 people. The needs of the many ...cincybearcat said:I guess I don't understand how or why a state would keep you from visiting family
I've already missed one funeral. Donated to the deceased's charity of choice, though, in lieu of attendance.

Talk is cheap. Just look at all those “influential” Hollywood types who vowed to leave the greatest country in the world if Donald Trump got elected. Boy was that fun back then hearing them all back peddle.....it will be interesting to see which rotten brain doubles down in coming months....1ThoughtKnown said:

I paid a fair amount to money to sit and listen to Henry Rollins talk. But it was worth every cent and what he said made sense.
