Did anyone catch that special last week about Alex?  It was a good watch, and confirmed my sense that he's a man of humor, introspection, and class.

Cheering for Brad but he really struggled tonight. Ken was great. When James was on his streak and Ken was being asked how he thought he’d fare against James, he said he thought he’d be too slow now that he’s older. But that sure wasn’t the case tonight.

Fun stuff. I like the format too. Basically a three-way best-of-7.

I want to see the personification of a brain (Ken) beating an algorithm (James).  Nothing against James. He's super intelligent and a fun, quirky guy, but he relies on his board navigation algorithm to win.  Ken just relies on pure knowledge. Who cares about Brad?!

Brad's the man. He just couldn't have a huge streak like James or Ken because he played back when you could only win 5 games in a row. He has beaten Jennings in every tournament of champions they've played in and has won the most money of any player ever. But he didn't look too sharp last night.

He cracked the game. He played it exactly how I thought it should be played when I watched it as a kid. Why start with the easy questions? Go for the jugular. Attack. play every daily double aggressively.  Know where the daily doubles usually are located and go there.
Never watched a single episode, but read about his approach. He is an assassin.

Funny you mention this.  For years I would watch when they set up the board and the last square that was set up was the daily double.  I have no idea if it has ever changed but it was something I noticed.

    Anyone?

Would it be more interesting to get rid of the Daily Doubles in this competition?  I guess it allows for comebacks, but when you have two equally smart people it just becomes luck of who finds it (obviously have to be in control to get it).

Poor Brad. He was a good sport.

Much as I was hoping James would win, Jennings was beyond stellar. Well-done!

I thought the same thing. But that’s how James broke all those records, always going all in when Ken plays it safe. So makes it interesting I guess.

Yeah, I'm not saying get rid of it in the normal contests.  That's fine.  Don't want to penalize really smart people on the show.  But if you are trying to see who is the smartest then I don't think Daily Double's help.   But then it wouldn't be Jeopardy I guess.

I was floored by how great Ken was. I watched a lot of his streak when it happened, but that was song long ago. He was amazing. I could live without his dramatic pauses on daily doubles that we KNOW he knows the answer to. But ya gotta be a performer out there too I guess. Great job by him.

Brad seemed to have lost the touch on the buzzer, and really struggled on daily doubles. It was a shame because he consistently kicked Ken's ass in tournament of champions over the years (Brad never lost of game before losing these four in a row) Because his original run was before they lifted the 5-day limit, people aren't as familiar with him as they are with James and Ken because of their long streaks. So I was a little sad to see him perform so poorly with so many people watching, many of whom weren't familiar with how great he's been on the show over the years.

James played well as expected, but he's the most awkward weirdo I've seen on TV in a while. His attempts at "jokes" are cringeworthy, his facial expressions are creepy, and his one-liner to Brad during game 4 about Brad finishing the first half of the game with zero points was fucking lame as hell. Again, trying to be funny, but incapable of doing it. Even if he and Ken were beating Brad's ass, show some respect (as Ken does). Brad seems a little washed-up now, but he's still the highest money winner ever. James taunting him would be like Patrick Mahomes taunting Tom Brady.

Brad’s money came in tournament of champions though. Not from a streak.  Still, tough competition.
