Advice on taking my kid to a show

At past shows, I've noticed a few couples in the fan club area have their kid with them.  I'm hoping to take my 12yo to a show someday and looking for best advice to do so.  I'm a fan club member and have my wife with me at shows. All the best!

Glad you said 12 year old and not 3 year old. The reaction would be quite different around here. Lol. You’ll be all good. Enjoy the show!

Took my 5 year old. He was great, we even caught a tambourine.

    At 8:54.
  • My 11 yr old daughter is adamant that I take her to a PJ concert, so she's going to be my +1 for the spring tour. Hoping to go to STL & Nashville.

My youngest son has said the same. Might be tough to match his older brothers experience

I have 10C Ga for Krakow and 10C reserved for Zurich. After talking with a friend who was at the last Krakow show and him telling me that the GA was not divided into a front and back section I’m having second thoughts about bringing an 11 yr old.

You can stick to the side and you’ll be fine I reckon
  •     I've taken a twelve year old to see Pearl Jam and we had a good time too.

12 was when we started taking our daughter to shows. CC in Indy, up in the rafters of the Murat Theater. Now at 16, she loves shows, but she's still not a pit kid. Just know your child and ticket accordingly. If we have GA lawn, we hang at the back. We avoid indoor GA with her. She absolutely loves concerts, but we make sure to stick with what we know will make her comfortable. Just do that and you'll be good.

She is waiting for PJ. Looking for a lovely arena tour

It depends on the size of your kid but I was in the pit about 4 rows back in Krakow last year and it was pretty crazy. I am sure there are spots on the side and back that will be ok though. There was constant pressure and pushing from the back and people shoving trying to get up closer. I was fine with the experience but no way I would put my kid through that.
  • Dont go near the middle or front. I took 2 17 year old girls and had to be pulled out . Not cool. Stay back  and ok. But its a risk.  In my experience  awful.

  • I was 13 at my first PJ show in 2006 and had a blast. I’d say aim for reserved though. GA can be a lot to deal with.

Thanks for all the great information.  Any advice if my wife and I have fan club tix. If the 12yo has a ticket elsewhere, can we have them with us?
  • doubtful. I’d say either try for three together or assume you’re gonna switch off with the kid in the pair of tenclub tix and try for a single elsewhere

Get reserved seats as close to the stage as possible and you will be fine. Get good ear plugs, especially if you are close to the PA/stacks.
