People actually like Lizzo, Swift, and Eilish here?
Why not? Good music is good music.
Don't know, I just assumed those pop acts are anathema to us rock fans here
Rockism is such an antiquated attitude. If this board can move beyond 1996 and embrace current music, that’s a great thing.

I don't care if it's in the top 40 charts, as long as it good and honest and written by the acts themselves.
    Not some manufactured shallow garbage.

Each to their own. I feel I can connect more with someone if they are singing their own song.

    Agreed
Can you guys please translate this to English or something a dumb ass like me can understand.
The last song on the Tedeschi Trucks Band CD is beyond amazing. Rest In Peace Col. Bruce Hampton.
Thank you. Now it makes sense.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

You ever heard of the band Kiss or the song Mankind. That is textbook bad music right there.

There’s such a thing as shit rock too.  Who cares what the genre is or if it’s mainstream?  I felt these records were very good.
I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.

Thats one reason why i like the kid.  Eilish is writing every tune with her brother. They’re a songwriting duo and a live duo.  The label isnt forcing the industry hit writers on her.  Is she getting major marketing and radio push from her label?  Of course.  Just like every other artist who ever sold a million records

Some yes.  Some no.  Shes not writing about the highschool halls.  Shes writing about some dark stuff actually.  Either way you don’t forget certain feelings whether you’re 17 or 47.  I don't know. I mean i cant relate to a lot of rock lyrics.  Hip hop lyrics. Etc.

You should totally avoid seeing this band called Pearl Jam in concert. Like a 1/4 of their set are covers. Too bad that singer guy in the band can’t sing his own songs.

Some good ones mentioned already. Can’t believe no one has mentioned the Claypool Lennon Delirium yet. South of Reality is certainly my favorite album of the year.

Nice call on the Yola album. Would be on my list. Going to see her in Minneapolis in a couple of weeks.

Surprised no one has listed Jenny Lewis - On the Line yet. It’s very good.

We saw her open for Kacey Musgraves. While we like Kacey, Yola blew her away....amazing performance!

I agree on Jenny Lewis...her album is #11 or 12 for me...right there with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Okay, so I took a listen of Billie Eilish's debut. It's okay but isn't exactly my cup of tea. Maybe it's her mumbled, whispered vocals, I don't know.
My favourite songs are You Should See Me in a Crown, Wish You Were Gay, My Strange Addiction, and I Love You.

Is it me or does the chorus vocal melody of Bury a Friend sound like chorus vocal melody of The Doors' People Are Strange?

HAHAHAHA!!! I mentioned the "People are Strange" thing on here when I first heard that song!  Yes it does.

If you have a nice sound system when listening to her you can hear the layering in the song.  Her brother does this I believe and he does a great job at it.

So I am saying that it does sound like a mumble but it's actually a bunch of layered vocals too.  Her voice is that good that she can talk and it has pitch.
