I love the entire album. The short title track gets me, too.

For this particular track, though, it’s the climactic “... but now I know the reason why I had to buy the thread ...” that never fails to give me goosebumps. And Mary Harris’s vocals add a good mournfulness to it as well.

Next one for me is Emmylou’s “Boulder to Birmingham”

Oh jeez, yes to this.  It's like an open wound, but in the best way.
  • The original recording of the RollingStones' Give me Shelter has a part when the girl does her own solo singing in it and she hits these high notes and her voice cracks.

That is a goosebump moment too.

Merry Clayton. Love her! This is a clip I’ve watched over & over & over. Have you seen the documentary Twenty Feet From Stardom? Must watch.

    Natalie Merchant.  Beloved Wife.
The beautiful Natalie Merchant.  This song in any form always makes me cry.

The Lumineers.  From III.  The Salt and the Sea.
All that you suffered, all the disease
You couldn't hide it, hide it from me

    The National.  Hairpin Turns.
What are we going through, you and me?
Every other house on the street's burning
What are we going through? Wait and see
Days of brutalism and hairpin turns
What are we going through, you and me?
What is it you want me to be learning?
We're always arguing about the same things
Days of brutalism and hairpin turns

    Band of Horses.  Detlef Schrempf.
Take it as a song or a lesson to learn.  Sometime soon, be better than you were.  You say you're going to go.  Be careful.  Watch how you treat every living soul.

    Hellyeah. Moth.
the ruler of the kingdom that ends up the pawn
so tired of thinking of where it all went wrong
friendships they come and go and sometimes they end
wouldn't dream in a million year that this would be one of them.

    Chris Cornell.  Seasons.
Got that at Lakewood.  I tell you, I still can't listen to CC without crying.  Someday . . . maybe.  Not there yet.
    And I'm lost behind
    The words I'll never find
    And I'm left behind
    As seasons roll on by
I always said that CC could sing the ABCs in a dumpster and I would swoon.  Still holds true.  That voice is magic.

    TY for this.

Hearing it raw with no music, Her telling us that she went back in to knock them off their feet and to hear it!

    Chills and goose bumps!

    TY TY TY!!!

    Clap clap clap

    Edit:

This was THE EXACT part I was talking about too!
  • My PJ "Chills" moment.

First time hearing this song, live, national television, and they killed it.

The energy in the song, the bands movement, Vedders voice, duckwalk, slam bass, crash symbols, solo...

Still the best version of this song live ever.

    G'head fight me.

  • That is great.
I love the way Stone plays on that
Ed's singing is balls out, really great
Only thing that is better now is Matt.  For this song, Matt's drumming beats anyone else IMO

You are most welcome! And the way it’s edited between Mick & her facial expressions- brilliant.

Tried to talk my daughter's orchestra teacher into having the kids do this but unfortunately, it would take too much time to transcribe for all sections and it is almost 9 minutes long. Love this song.

I hadn't even heard that song before but I tell you, it made me cry. Always so beautiful to have a crowd (particularly that size) take over the singing and the band lets them run with it. Some good stuff right there. :plus_one:

Watching something like that makes me feel better about the world.  At least for a few minutes.  Such a beautiful thing.  I've watched that video countless times and I still tear up just about every time.  Really good stuff.

This is incredible. Definitely a “chill worthy” part of the song. I like hearing the back story on how the recording came together, and hearing it raw is unreal. She is one talented woman. Our wedding party also walked out to this song which makes it a bit more special for me.
