and then NY & Horse canceled all remaining dates. Ohana included
Sorry for those that missed out on NYCH now that remainder of tour is cancelled. I caught the second night at Forest Hills and loved every minute of it.
Not sure if a 1-word answer to a question counts as an ‘update’, but at least it’s keeping the conversation going…
It's great that it's gonna happen.
It’s been almost 5 years since Mirror Ball Live was first hinted as a Hearse Theatre screening (that never actually happened). At this point I’d bet that it finally gets released next year for the 30th Anniversary.

Neil is hosting another NYA Zoom call right now. I asked him if there was any update on the Mirror Ball Live box set, but his answer on the date was pretty vague…
I also asked if there were any plans to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Mirror Ball next year… Neil said “Probably! Put that on the list Frank!”
He said he was calling it ‘Scenery’ now, as that is his favourite song from that era, and they also had some cool stuff from Israel (the 8th show of the tour). Presumably that will be in the Archives IV box. He loved playing with Pearl Jam, “what a great band,” calling out the rhythm section of Jeff and Jack first, then Mike, Stone and Ed.

Next year makes sense given the anniversary. But also, he’s asking a ton of his fanbase for Archives Vol. 3. Plus there’s the On The Beach anniversary and the stand alone of the late 80s records.
Among the updates that Neil posted today was this:
For reference, the Archives Volume 4 box set will cover 1988 - 2002, which was a hell of a run even by Neil’s standards. (Hopefully it’s still a couple of years away, because Volume 3 broke my wallet)
The ORS 6 vinyl in the second paragraph is the next vinyl box set containing Harvest Moon, Unplugged, Sleeps With Angels, and Mirror Ball.

Thanks for the update.
At this point I’m not even sure these posts count as real ‘updates’! I’m just happy that Mirror Ball is still part of the conversation - we’ll get it eventually!

Yeah, until its in our hands, its never real. That being said, the past few years, whenever we got an updated timeline of stuff, it made it known the order stuff will roll out.
I have no doubt ORS 6 will see the light of day next year (given that the past 2 years have seen ORS releases), which is enough to satiate this fanbase for a bit. Those 50th releases will happen too, well, because its the 50th for them next year.
I'm guessing TTN50 will be for RSD, ORS6 in the summer, Zuma50 in the fall.
I hope Neil doesn't cheap out on dealing with the 35mm film. Like Pearl Jam has cheaped out on every media they have ever used. hehe.
I hope it's a pristine 4K UHD that is getting released with the Atmos and the HDR and the feeling of holding greatness in your hands. And a worldwide theatrical release for a day, maybe two. And not some "here is an old video master from back then on a DVD-5 we'll throw in with the CD edition" or scrubbed James Cameron/Peter Jackson nightmare of a release.
I also hope that the original director is the one putting this together (finally) and not just his material from his creative decisions from back then.

"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
He knows there’s big demand for it. Yeah, I think next year is the year. Especially with ORS6. May even get people to bite on a big box if it and the live record come out together, saying that a stand alone isn’t happening for a while.
So, this new box will come sooner than expected? Maybe early 2025?
Neil is rarely on schedule. He gets distracted by new shiny things pretty easily. Best to guess that it will be delayed, but hope that it comes early...

Yep. I'm just guessing next year, 2025, will be the year. 30th anniversary of Mirror Ball & all.
Check out the photo that he posted along with it...
