If just once I could feel love stare back at me
I walked the line when you held me close at night
I paid the price never held you in real life
anyone who has ever loved someone who didnt love you back knows how this feels.......that includes everyone - right??I am the end of all your dreams...0 -

I like how it ends the same way the song starts...well you know what I'm talking about right?
It begins and ends with the same line "My lips are shaking, my nails are bit off..."
One of the best for sure."All the strength that you might think would disappear, resolving..."0 -

get a bit choked up just typing it....It's better to be alone than wish you were.

oh my God. Weather this song is played live or it's the album version, it is phenominal. I remember the first time I heard I got ID (or I got shit, whatever you prefer to call it), and I fell in love with the song. I was in Tulsa, OK visiting family for Thanksgiving, and luckily, the radio station played it every hour. Phenominal song, definatley sad though. I then heard a live version and nearly pissed myself, it was that good. Then I got to hear it when I saw pj live the 2nd time and it was pure bliss. Pearl jam is one of the most talented musical staples around 15 years and counting. The funny thing is, I first heard I got Id on the way home from the zoo. Great song, I can't say that enoughPJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

It's one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs of all time, for many reasons... The first time I heard it was November 1995. I was driving back up from Florida to New York with my family. It was late in the evening and we were driving through New Jersey and the NYC radio stations were finally coming in. It came on the radio and I freaked out. I had my headphones on in my little walkman. It was so beautiful!!! There is nothing like hearing a pearl jam song for the first time. It's one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs to this day."I will feel alive as long as I am free" - e.v.0

i think it was '94. it was on merckinball.0 -
According to Freud, we are born with our Id. The id is an important part of our personality because as newborns, it allows us to get our basic needs met. Freud believed that the id is based on our pleasure principle. In other words, the id wants whatever feels good at the time, with no consideration for the reality of the situation. When a child is hungry, the id wants food, and therefore the child cries. When the child needs to be changed, the id cries. When the child is uncomfortable, in pain, too hot, too cold, or just wants attention, the id speaks up until his or her needs are met.
The id doesn't care about reality, about the needs of anyone else, only its own satisfaction. If you think about it, babies are not real considerate of their parents' wishes. They have no care for time, whether their parents are sleeping, relaxing, eating dinner, or bathing. When the id wants something, nothing else is important.

Merkinball came out in 1995 as the B-side to accompany Neil Young's "Mirrorball" The single I got Id/shit I believe first surfaced radio airwaves in November 1995. I first heard the song over Thanksgiving break and fell in love with it instantly, as most of us do when it comes to Pearl jam songs.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

yeah... what (s)he said.
Merkinball is also where you can get a studio version of Long Road, another great colaboration track w/ Uncle Neil Young.
...and it's "I Got Id". Thats the name on Merkinball... it's the only track that gets 2 variations of names for some reason I do not know...
But it makes me sad.0 -
I have loved this song since the first time I heard id ( i heard the live at melbourne park version from '98 and I have to say I like this version better than the merkinball version) amazing0

i Got Id...In Freudian theory, the division of the psyche that is totally unconscious and serves as the source of instinctual impulses and demands for immediate satisfaction of primitive needs...whether we need em or not, or to learn the hard way from finding we dont
I got Shit...in the long run, the obvious stands to be true, huh?
incidentally my friend steve(who left this mortal coil for further celestial pursuits)'s favorite tune0 -
I was listening to this song a few weeks ago and it all of a sudden hit me what the song was about and how much it applies to my life at the moment.
It's in my top 5 PJ songs at the moment and it looks like it will be staying n there for a while0
