Ed started with thanking Dutch people or Amsterdam. He noticed that he played more solo shows here than in Seattle. He mentioend also briefy the guy who by coinsodence is orange like the soccer Jersey of the Dutch team. The last time he was here in winter when travelling to South Africa for Globaln Citizen. Then he had a chance to witnes Amsterdam in Winter, do some ice skating etc. Several times he mentioned about Glen how great friend he is. During the Alive with String quartet onstage there were some pictures on screens of Ed hanging around Amsterdam during past few days (some museums, parks etc. )

What a great show! He was in great spirits. To have Jake Clemmons guest was also a real treat. Highlights, to me, were Drive All Night, Man of the Hour and Sometimes. Scored a poster and a mug. So a great start to the tour for me.

    on to night 2

He was very emotional before Wildflowers and Song of Good Hope. Before Wildflowers, he told the story of how the last good time he saw Tom was in AMS when they were playing Ziggo and Tom was playing Heineken. Before SoGH, he spoke about how he sometimes doesn't speak to a friend for months and it ends up being never again (I think he was thinking about Chris, I know I was) and how he leaned on this song in that time. It was intense.

Open All Night was massive! Really intense if you ask me! And loved the improv before Lukin. Teaser of a new song....?

A special mention for Glen Hansard should be said I think, whose performance (on both nights) was nothing short of incredible!
