Hoping for some new stuff from these bands:
    PJ (duh!)
The Avett Brothers (These guys have consistently produced some great stuff)
The Head and the Heart (One of the best for me right now. Great music)
RHCP (I think I actually enjoyed The Getaway more than any of their other albums overall - great top to bottom)
Tool (I won't hold my breath, but I'll cross my fingers it happens)
Deftones (Last album was a bummer for me, so I hope this one kills like Koi or Diamond)
Rob Zombie (John 5 hyped the shit out of it so I hope it's everything he says)
Megadeth (Always like to hear what Dave is going to churn out)
Slipknot (Not their biggest fan, but I like Corey Taylor and he always delivers at least a few great songs)
Maggie Rogers (Great young artist who probably won't be at the club level shows much longer)

    It's a hopeless situation...

I would love to be surprised to the point of falling off my desk chair to read that Paul Westerberg is coming out with an album.
Just as exciting would be if Paul and his pal Juliana Hatfield were to do another The I Don't Cares album.

Dinosaur Jr always, of course, and forever.

Carlton Melton (I do believe the guys have been in the studio since the release of their last one, Mind Minerals.

I would be thrilled if the Rolling Stones were to make an album as the old men they are the way people like John Lee Hooker and Mississippi John Hurt made albums like the old men they were in the last years of their life.

And of course, anything groundbreaking.  I'm tempted to modify that wish with "...if that's even possible", but I still think it is, and I would settle for something highly relevant, well written, full of fire and compassion, and displaying a high degree of dedication to making the best music possible.

Yes, I did indeed!  I pre-ordered it back in October and it's due to arrive any day now!

And just this morning I pre-ordered American Laundromat Records' reissue of Blake Babies Innocence and Experience.  Oh yeah!

  • alan cross is reporting that the new tool record is fully recorded. just needs to be mixed, and with all songs being 10 minutes +, it could take a couple months, then promotion, etc. late summer is the guess.
