Dave Abbruzzese playing Chris Cornells "Seasons"

Dave A is like Dave Grohl to me, beats the hell out of the drums and adds a great aggressive tone. I watched a video I took of Matt Cameron playing Seasons from the LA Forum show and he is much more subdued, the guitar and vocals are the focal point. Problem is, Stone and Jeff, fed off Dave A’s drumming whether live or in studio in 1992-1993, and now the drumming is now more subdued, but solid. It’s a beat, not a groove.Bridge Benefit 1994, San Francisco 1995, San Diego 1995 1 & 2, Missoula 1998, Los Angeles 2000, San Diego 2000, Eddie Vedder/Beck 2/26/2002, Santa Barbara 2003, Irvine 2003, San Diego 2003, Vancouver 2005, Gorge 2005, San Diego 2006, Los Angeles 2006 1 & 2, Santa Barbara 2006, Eddie Vedder 4/10/08, Eddie Vedder 4/12/08, Eddie Vedder 4/15/08, 7/12/2008, SF 8/28/09, LA 9/30/09, LA 10/1/09, LA 10/06/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09, Eddie Vedder 7/6/2011, Eddie Vedder 7/8/2011, PJ20 9/3/2011, PJ20 9/4/2011, Vancouver 9/25/2011, San Diego 11/21/13, LA 11/24/13, Ohana 9/25/21, Ohana 9/26/21, Ohana 10/1/21, EV 2/17/22, LA Forum 5/6/22, LA Forum 5/7/22, EV 10/1/22, EV 9/30/230

This is sacred ground for me because Seasons is my favourite song ever........but I'm blown away by what these guys have done with it. To take such a wonderfully stark and vulnerable song and amp up all that energy, should not work on paper, but somehow they've pulled it off. It doesn't hurt that they have Dave A on drums, he has lost nothing, he plays with so much feeling. It's hard to believe that he didn't get another major gig after he left Pearl Jam.
The only thing that could have made this better would have been a Mike McCready solo0 -
Wow that was incredible!! Nice find spiritual.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

Dave A treats the drums almost as a lead instrument. You can listen to a live song with PJ from the early 90s and just start focusing in on the drumming. His drumming has such character and groove."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

Saying "get" implies he tried and wanted it though, which we don't know much about. Or do we?Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

That was pretty good. The guy has a good voice, and Dave sounded great. I hated the solo though, I thought it was overdone.
The heavy parts made me feel pretty sad though, because more than anything I wanted it to be Soundgarden“Do not postpone happiness”

So having just listened to this, holy shit, what an amazing version and a fitting tribute. Also listened to their other track on Spotify and it’s great.....Dave A brining it!!!
have to say it has made me think about a Chris tribute album and where it could go. This for me is the perfect example of how a tribute should work. Really amazing take on a song that you don’t think that can get any better.
I'm pretty sure people are queuing up to do an album dedicated to Chris and I sincerely hope the PJ boys have some serious contributions to this.....and I’m sure they do. But this for me sets a pretty good benchmark for where it can be taken and hope wholeheartedly that if a tribute album does materialise that this version of Seasons is track number 1!!! Great work Dave A and Pseutopia0 -
