What are you missing? The US/Canada have law enforcement agreements. The US requested that Canada detain and extradite Meng to face charges in the US for violating technology/trade embargoes on Iran. If Canada extradites her to the US, she'll face charges in court and be provided an attorney, probably by China. If found innocent by a jury, she'll be released and deported back to China. If she's found guilty, she'll be sentenced. The US is waiting for the Canadian court system to do its thing. The US is sitting by waiting for it to rule. Your concerns are valid. What are the police doing to shut down the money laundering? With China, you are not dealing with rational people, this is how they react. There is nothing Trudeau can do, the Americans filed an extradition request ... as far as I understand we are obligated to extradite. I think if the judge were to deny her bail, she'd let herself get extradited ... it can 2 years to get a hearing, doubt she wants to sit in jail for 2 years, just to be extradited anyways...if she gets bail, she be in China within 2 days.
