    4. Just don't trust him
2, 3 and 4 are fair points if they are important to you.
Why is it okay to discriminate against religion though?
His beliefs are dictated by the pope and the bible.
Maybe I should have said religious  conservative
So do you have an issue with someone being in office because they are religious? Or do you just not agree with the stance most religions organizations have.
Other than abortion, what issues do you have with religion in politics that are currently a topic?

There is NO place for religion in politics  and government.

I.e. separation of church and state

For me, someone who is deeply religious is going to put their particular brand of mythology ahead of reason, and law. A jurist needs to weigh facts without emotion. A religionist doesn't require facts, and will accept "faith" or "belief" as sufficient "proof". After all, the Bible  will lead one to eternal salvation in a way that the Constitution cannot. I don't believe religionists shouldn't be deciding secular/legal matters.

When politicians and lawmakers justify their decisions and actions by referring to the bible or to Christian principles, I have a big issue with it. The job of those in the legal realm is to uphold the law and advance justice, not to bring their personal beliefs into their decisions. Christians in office have referred to religion to justify not just anti-choice stances, but also stances on contraception, end of life care/assisted suicide, and other decisions.

They also place God before the citizens. I.e. many of them think that God placed them in their government position (even GWB believed that) ... That necessarily means that they answer to God/their faith before they answer to the Constitution (Charter of Rights, etc), and citizens/voters and their rights, which is completely backwards, obviously.

So the allegations are relevant now because he is nominated for SCOTUS, but didn’t matter for any of his previous appointments or jobs.  Got it.

I am Catholic but the Church has many huge problems right now.  Abusers need to be held accountable and need to be investigated.  This   Pope should resign.

I would think they would be relevant at any point. It just so happens that the allegation was made public now and not before. Some would consider that convenient, but I disagree. I imagine that many of the accusations that come out when someone is entering into a particular position of power because the accuser realizes that they can't allow that person to achieve that level of power without people knowing about just what kind of man he is.
I was seriously sexually harassed by someone at work in the past, and my accusations were shrugged off and ignored in a really, really fucked up way by management. If I saw that man who sexually harassed me run for office now, I'd be very tempted to come out with that story just to warn the public about what kind of man he is.... And since those managers would likely deny it to cover their asses for the appalling why they dealt with my complaint, and since people would decide that the timing was "suspicious", my harasser would almost certainly be labelled a victim of the #metoo movement, and I would be dragged through the mud by tons of people, including my abuser. This situation happens EASILY.

They should just lose tax free status unless all leadership resigns.  This was a huge problem before this pope and it will be after this pope if the church doesn't make huge changes.  The 2 changes that would make this issue go away fastest?

    1) Allow female priests
    2) allow priests to marry

Would get a lot different person entering the priesthood...raise the game.

Other than abortion, what issues do you have with religion in politics that are currently a topic?

separation of church and state. simple as that.

Ignorance would imply that my knowledge on the subject was lacking.  I however posted exact truth.

The personal attack on me is what is ignorant.
Anyone being honest would say that they would have no idea if the allegations were true.  To say otherwise is ignorant.
So the allegations are relevant now because he is nominated for SCOTUS, but didn’t matter for any of his previous appointments or jobs.  Got it.
Pretty much yeah.  I don't think his other jobs required much vetting.  To say otherwise is horribly ignorant.

I would have thought that we could all agree that a position on the SCOTUS has a more significant impact on society than almost any other job, and thus candidates deserve and require much greater scrutiny. Are people really going to try to dispute that?

he's saying it's a conspiracy only because kavanaugh is a conservative nominated for SCOTUS.

I think some people that are ridiculously ignorant would probably dispute that yes.

Here's the thing.  Kavanaugh knows he fucking did it.  I'm sure he didn't think it was as big of a deal as she did but she is much more credible than him at this point.

She's calling for the FBI to look into it...that gives her story a lot of credence.

Women offer more than men do in many circumstances.  You want “equality” in everything?  All you do is ruin what makes women unique and special.

This is one of the dumbest comments I've ever read on social media.
