is it really a legit lottery stickman?  I thought i was going to be in the back for sure.  How is seniority supposed to affect your seat location?

Rows 1, 2, 9, & 10 in the front sections are lottery. The rest are filled out by seniority.

Rows 1, 2, 9, & 10 in the front sections are lottery. The rest are filled out by seniority.

But only because there is no pit. In venues with a pit, there is no lottery for those rows.

It's totally random, too. I'm 0/1 in that situation. Some people could be 3/7 or even 3/4.

No the row 1,2,9,10 lottery was not in effect in 2003. It was seating by seniority, but the "block" system was still in play then.

Cool. Other than these two Fenway shows, the only other show I've gotten 10c tickets to was Mansfield 1 in 03. My number was in the 200Ks then. Not bad seats, maybe halfway back, pretty straight on. What was the "block" system? Blocks of seats for certain Membership # ranges?

    Exactly.
You showed up to pick up your tix at the box office, they checked your ID and based on your 10club number pulled the next 2 tickets off the corresponding stack. They switched to predetermined assigned seats in 2006 I think and the lottery for rows 1,2,9 & 10 was added in 2008 or 2010

Dude, thank you for this explanation! I never really knew how the tickets were allotted back then. We had heard something along these lines, but I was never clear on it. We got down there super early, but it didn't seem to matter. I guess it kinda did!

It definitely didn't matter what time you got there. Whether they pulled from a stack or had them randomly assigned ahead of time, getting there early didn't mean better seats in your block. I was front row '03 in Albany and we didn't pick up our tickets until just before doors.

Albany 03 must have been an anomaly for you (I was in row 2 that show, picked up my tickets in the afternoon), similar to what they mention happened at Jones Beach in 2000

That's how they did it in 2000, but it doesn't specify for 2003. I only had 10C tix for 1 show in 2000, so I can't speak to that. I had 10C tix for 6 shows in 03 and don't recall a surge to line up early. I certainly never got there early and it's not really reflected in my seats. Unless there were a few anomalies.

    Albany - Row 1
    Nassau - Row 5
    Mansfield 1 - Row 6
    Camden - Row 4
    MSG 1 - Row 7
    MSG 2 - Row 8

Based on the blocks listed in the article, I should have been further back at one of those shows. Or there was only a small number of people jockeying to get there early and it didn't matter much.
