Marlins manager's contract is voided for next year and doesn't look like he's coming back

I was hoping since this is Boone's final contract year with a club option that Mattingly might get a shot. But now the Marlins manager contract was voices. And he's quitting on his team. Hope is not a Girardi situation.

I watched it! Good stuff but I never want to see Frank blow his nose ever again. Too bad you and Donnie didn’t cross paths in the park.

Favorite player when I was young. Love this pic (it's framed and has been hanging on the wall at Twin Trees in N. Syracuse since the picture was taken) :

I’ve always loved this image and have one that is autographed.

It’s from the same photo shoot as a picture used in a 1988 New York Times Magazine article.

Ok, had no idea Don Mattingly had a son, Preston, who played and is like an assistant GM for one of the Phillies minor league teams I think? Heard it while watching the Phills game tonight.

One of the reasons he retired early. To stay with the kids. He later said he should have just moved them to NY.

So some possible manager openings for next season. White Sox, Mariners, and Reds. Of those 3 Reds might be a better option. Well Mariners but the Astros will be hard to overtake. Maybe the Angels. Ron Washington has been signed to 2 years. But it's possible they can part ways.
Blue Jays might be in play but I don't know if being in the AL East with the Yankees and Orioles. And Boston and The Rays can get better.

Boone is in his final year with a club option. But if they get eliminated will he be brought back? If he isn't. Cashman won't hire Mattingly because he doesn't want to "ruin his legacy" or whatever the reason was. I don't think managing a team to 90-100 wins a season even if you make bad moves is a bad thing..

Imagine the White Sox hiring Mattingly then proceeding to lose 140 games.
    This weekend we rock Portland

If they hire him now, he would be a success.
(At least for a year.  They can't be worse.)

I don't want him to go through that again.

I hear the Reds might hire F’me’s boy Barry Larkin.

Hope so.  Put Votto on staff.
If team won't spend on team at least we can have favorite players on staff.  Donny can get a spot too

Just checked Larkin’s “MVP” season. Looks like they gave it to the wrong Barry.
