    Someone (back in '03) offered an interesting interpretation that I have hung onto. They suggested that this song has to do with drug use or addiction. I'll explain.

    I always kinda thought that myself - i think there are alot of drug references in alot of the songs and we just dont pick up on it......I also thought maybe a couple of lines of this had to do with temptation of women - b/c you know it had to happen ALOT.

    i think like many of pj's songs it's open for intepretation.. but it sure has a personal side related to the band ,like most Vitalogy.

    provably we the fans should get our own personal interpretations, wich is very easy about this song.. everyone has felt temptation for something..

    hypocritical or not, how much difference does it make??/

    Anyway, I think it has to do with being faithful to your partner, and dealing with temptations. As far as the guys living up to what they say, they say a LOT, and really set the bar way up, and just remember they are human....not the easiest life...

    This is a kick ass song still. one of my faves....

    Totally love this song. Helped me come up with my board name. It was this or special guest. lol I think I like mine better even though the two words aren't really together in the song.

    i agree about the temptation thing...
    satan in this song can be the music industry ... like the whole album criticize
    can be the music industry and maybe all things that its offers to them, groupies, money, drugs, personal life on news ...
    and they just had to separate all that stuff from their carrer as musicians !

    maybe nowadays it can be hypocritical ... not really !
    perhaps just that role model, skinny little bitch thing .... since his story with beth and jill ... and we can't even say a lot about that ... because he's really reserved ... and he's right about that
    it doesn't matter ... he's a musician his personal life its just his.
    but he can't help the fact ... that his personal life influences his music
