Set List

Walk On Music: Metamorphosis #2-Phillip Glass

Band Onstage: 11:30
Band Offstage: 1:38

01. Low Light
02. Better Man/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling)-1:40 tag
03. Go
(Chats in Portuguese.  Wishes them good evening and talks about the festival)
04. Mind Your Manners
05. Do The Evolution
(Chats in Portuguese and introduces Mike)
06. Given To Fly
07. Interstellar Overdrive-(Barrett, Mason, Waters, Wright)-instrumental 55 seconds
08. Corduroy
(Ed checks on the audience to make sure they are safe and lists things that he is drinking to.  Fernando(?) this one’s for you)
09. Rats
(22 years ago we played this song in Cascais.  We are going to play it again for you)
10.  Even Flow
(You know, Mike isn’t the only one playing a mean guitar up here…Mr. Stone Gossard!  “We call upon the author to explain”-quote is a reference to a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds song.)
11. Daughter / WMA-30 seconds / It's OK-(Cole)-2:30 min  Ed has the audience sing the line “It’s OK” in Portuguese while he sings the rest in English)
12. Unthought Known
( name? this ones for you)
13. Down
14. Jeremy
(We played this place a few years ago and the best part about it was the White Stripes played on the same stage and tonight is as good or even better because tonight we have Jack White.  Ed segue’s into a discussion of violence against women in Portugal and what can be done to reduce or prevent it.)
15. Can’t Deny Me
16. In My Tree
17. Black (if I had the chance to do it all again I would probably make the same mistakes because I’m a stupid man, If I had a chance to do it again..because we belong together))
18. Lukin
19. Rearviewmirror

Encore Break One

Hey we’d like to play one and see if we can get you to light this place up. I played it at a festival and I would love to have you hear it with the whole band.  There are people out there that think more about their own profit than they do for the environment, gay marriage (etc.) They are holding onto old ideas and they are going away but we should expedite this process.
20. Imagine-(Lennon) w/ full band
21. Comfortably Numb-(Gilmour, Waters)
22. Porch (during song the band jams on Seven Nation Army by Jack White who played before Pearl Jam and is watching the band from the side of the stage)
23. Alive
24. Rockin' In The Free World-(Young) w/ Jack White playing guitar.  (Stone plays tambourine. Eventually Jack’s bass player takes Jeff’s instrument and Jeff played piano with Boom)

Please share your experiences of the show here...the Fanview threads are preserved on the board.

Please keep the Fanview threads for Fanviews. It's ok to begin another thread on discussions of other topics and/or debates.

Thank you!

Thank you, John for the set list & notes.

WOW! Rats and In My Tree? And Jack White??? Low Light got the opening slot too (a rarity).
What a festival set! Sounds like it was way better than Mad Cool. I hope everyone there had a fantastic night!

Coulda sworn Ed said something like “To Ferraro/Fernando, this one is for you from Dave Grohl” before they played Rats. Did anyone else hear this?

We Seven Nation Army Porch as Eddie goes to the side and fingers Jack shouting a clear FU calling im out.  =)
You´ve got to love the way the band recruits those who came to see them for the first time, with the 'It´s Ok' tag in the local language.
When we attend a Pearl Jam show you know you´ll get memories for life, like when Ed goes '22 years ago we played this song in Cascais, and we are playing it again here tonight', and your head goes directly to Black,Red & Yellow and then Evenflow is on... :)
Hope they comeback late next year with the new album in arena showS. We need that little extra time for Y.Led and a full Little Wing.

That Les Paul tho, and the guy who plays it,... Miguel?!? :pensive:
  • Amazing night. Imagine and comfortably numb covers were nailed. Release escapes me again. Also to the asshole who befriended me cause of the celtic top being similar to sporting Lisbon whilst at the same time taking sly gropes of my partners ass.... not cool.  Noticed you clapped when Eddie mentioned rights for women especially how they should be treated by us. She kept this quiet til the end of the show in respect to those around us. That aside other amazing night from this band and she still enjoyed her first pearl jam show and has the bug.

I like the funkier Porch.  One of things I like about Pearl Jam is the connection with their fans.  Eddie and Mike move freely into the crowd, and the group plays to those sitting behind the stage.  It would be great if Pearl Jam incorporated a B stage at the rear of the stadium so those fans could also get a personal experience the people in front and back stage receive.  For example, perhaps they could do one of their encores at the far end of the arena.  It could also be a way for PJ to prevent the rush or "surge" to the front of the stage.  Thoughts?

That is what u2 does; great idea!

  • Brilliant night! Arrived in the city with tickets for the Friday only and thanks to fellow fan club member Jay from Boston selling us his spare tickets we got to see the band on Sat. Really made up for missing out on the cancelled London show (at least got to London night 1). No problems with Ed's voice in Lisbon

Ed has tried that before. He sang Last Kiss from the lighting/mix board platform at the second United Center show in 2006. I could see him doing things like that again. But generally, I don't see those U2 type staging approaches fitting with the personality of this band.

Ah, remember Gorge 2006.  Eddie on top of the sound board shed singing Given To Fly (I think) it was!?

    Great show....great festival.

Here is my video of the guitar solo of Alive and Eddie jumping the stage mics.

Apologies for the guttural yells, but I was in some stage of euphoria and earthly bliss.
