A message to the band...

Just fired off the following email to 10C, but thought it might be a good idea to post here as backup, too, and wanted to share our story with you all. 


At the age of 15 I lost my dad to cancer, just three years after losing my mom to the same disease. Vitalogy was released a month prior, and was essentially my therapy through an incredibly difficult period of life. 

Fast forward eight years, I accidentally met my soulmate through the Message Pit right before the 2003 tour kicked off. We were living 1,000 miles apart (Florida to Pennsylvania) and found each other thanks to a shared love of all things Pearl Jam. We became engaged the day of the October 3, 2005 concert, shortly after closing on the home we purchased together near Philadelphia. 

We will be flying out to to Seattle to celebrate 10 years of marriage with 50,000 of our mutual friends at Safeco Field, and as fate would have it, our actual wedding anniversary happens to be August 8th!

We’ve met so many amazing people through the forum and PJ tours, and a lot of them will also be joining us. We hope it might mean something to the band to know that we’ll be there for such an awesome milestone because of them. And just knowing that they’ve read our story would truly be a wonderful anniversary gift!

    love it! So grateful for all this band has done to bring us together, all the relationships generated and all the inspiration they cause for us to do things for others. Their music and their art is so healing and such good therapy but yet the byproducts they create from their battles and insistence on carrying on despite all they have been through and fought is priceless.

    Thanks for sharing your story, Sharon. It's a good reminder of the special and all-encompassing community that's grown from the seeds of the band's music. What a great way to celebrate your 10th. Happy anniversary to you and Greg :joy:

    awesome story Shannon.  I can relate.  One of my first dates with my wife was Pearl Jam Toronto 1996.  we were both teenagers at the time and were still going strong 22 years later. We are both very different people but our love for sports, Pearl Jam, each other and  our 2 boys  ( not necessarily in that order..LOL) have kept us strong.   Hope we run into you two in Seattle.
