When I first heard it I thought it was "turn to my missus" as in wife :D

    Oh the shame :(
and with the person who thought it was "pulled a fuckin gun" we get the lovely line of:
"Turned to my missus, and pulled a fucking gun" How lovely.

here is what I have always heard on this popular lyric...
"Turn to my nemesis, pull it on f***in God"
this makes no sense, don't ask me why I heard it that way!
Something funny too, recently my best friend asked me, "Hey, what is the title of that Pearl Jam song that goes, Glorified version of a pelican or something like that?" I did not have the heart to tell her that she was crazy so I just told her the title. It seems like the pelican thing is popular! At least she got part of it right.

    SAD:
"Eleven nights he laid in bed"
    is really
    "He never masturbates in bed"...

    Or vice versa...

At the end of Betterman, I thought Eddie was saying "Hey ma you're better than him."

In Glorified G I though he was saying “Glorified version of a Pelican”
    "The fat man walks alone"

First time hearing glorified g i thought the line was "rode five virgins on a pelican" instead of "glorified version of a pellet gun", didn't have the inlay card to check and convinced my sister those were the lyrics too! was only about 14 at the time though.

Well, I guess I should be ashamed too, because I've been a PJ fan since the very beginning and to this very moment I would have sworn that was the lyric. I just had to look up the real lyrics on google just to find out what he is really singing. Yikes, all this time I've been singing the wrong line! It's gonna be difficult to sing it the right way now.

    Peace.

That's the WORST feeling when you've been listening to them forever and just now realize you've been wrong this whole time, and it sucks because by now "your" lyrics sound better - I just found out a couple of weeks ago that at the end of Black he's saying "star" and not "sun" - I still think sun is better and makes much more sense...oh well...

OK, most people have trouble understanding Ed's singing...even as a hardcore Pearl Jam fan, I have to admit Iv'e had a few PJ lyrics mixed up before. Like "No Way." The line that says "Of my need to not disappear" I could have sworn was "All I need tonight is a beer." Anyone else recently discover they had some lyrics mixed up?

M personal favorite lyric that I "misheard" for years
is the line in Black that says 'her lace spread out before me'
I always thought it said 'her legs spread out before me'
and I was like - Goodness Eddie, have you no shame?! :D

back in the days of the $50 bootleg, i came accross one that had leash labeled as drop the leaves. and i havent been able to get the title or my response out of my head (drop the leaves, drop the leaves, get outta my fuckin yard) ever since. so frustrating not being able to unthink the wrong words.

I didn't think it was possible someone other than me thought he said this. Haha.

There are plent examples of me thinking Eddie was one thing only to find out that he was saying another, but my college roommate told me something that I thought was pretty funny. He said his sister used to tell him how she thought the lyrics in one pearljam song had such stupid lyrics... she thought the hook in Betterman was "can't find the butter, mam."

    ++++++++
""It's egg rolling thick and heavy... all the past we carry... ohh, I could be new, you underestimate meeeeeeeeheee."
"whatever prize there waaa-aaas, I could only observe"
  • your real daddy was dyin'/but im glad we talked;

    but im playin the guitar;

i thought this till i looked at that explination interview, i specially thought it made sense too, cus of all the good guitar on the song. crazy cunts.

for ten years i thought "king jeremy the wicked" was "fuck-ing cunt played cricket".
.. what a complete fool i felt when i did a karaoke version at my mothers 60th birthday party!.......... she fucking hates cricket!
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....
  • that's hilarious :D

    Same for me.

    Glorified version of a Pelican.

I thought that Eddie was insane..
  • I always got mixed up listening to Alive...

Real lyrics "She said I'm sorry, but I'm glad we talked"
What I thought " She said I'm sorry, but I'm playing guitar"

    and then in Jeremy...

Real lyrics " Jeremy spoke in class today"
    I thought: " Jeremy's spoken blessed"

  • "I'd rather bleed with an enema" and "her legs spread before me as her body was dead" always make me smile... :)

just as in Staind's 'Epiphany' - "Cuz I can't take anymore of this, I wanna come and fart (come apart), and dig a little hole inside your precious heart..."
The man they call my enemy, I've seen his eyes
He looks just like me, a mirror

The more you read, we've been deceived
    Everyday it becomes clearer,...

    Clearer.
  • I've got a few:
    In Corduroy:
"I would rather starve than eat your breast" rather than "bread"
    and
"Thinking that I can put on my clothes" instead of "They can buy but can't put on my clothes"

    In Daughter:
    "She will....RISE THROUGH FIRE.....ooooooooooooooooo"
    as opposed to
    "She will....RISE ABOVE................ooooooooooooooooo"

  • It is DEFINITELY "SHAKE beneath the clouds" in Black....no chafing!

also, 99.9% sure Eddie sings "Get out of my fucking face" even on the studio version of Leash...

Oh, and much earlier in this thread, someone said they misheard the "legs spread out before me" line and corrected themselves with "her lace spread out before me as her body was still." I always thought it was:

"...untouched sheets of clay were laid spread out before me, as her body once did."

Have I also been singing the wrong words for 13 years now?????

Isn't it "Lay spread out before me"

Also I've seen Chafe written in lyrics before
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

my roommates at the time VS came out used to sing: "45 virgins and a pelican" in Glorified G

i've also heard someone sing in Jeremy: "clearly i remember, picking on his nose"

i won't go into what people (including myself) have misheard in Yellow Ledbetter or Corduroy.
    i. am. mine.
  • Thumbing my way--

the line which says " I let go of the rope thinking thats what held me back, in time i realise its now wrapped around my neck"

i thought said " And i look at the road, thinking thats what held me back, and in time i realise its not wrapped around my neck"

i actually think my version mkaes more sense and is more relevant to many similies and metaphors eddie makes concerning roads

btw anyone else noticed the similarity between the sound of this song and joy division love will tear us apart
