Of course.  That's what every functioning and strong society does.  Point me to an example of a decent case that proves otherwise.
It's incontrovertible that America's strongest periods coincide with high marginal tax rates.
The answer for all of the problems.
    It works.
You are still welcome (3 years or so running now) to provide an example that there's a better answer.

If he got any of that money he deserves all his wealth.

Plus if he has this 'undeserved' wealth, all he needs to do is squeeze in a few bankruptcies and he can run for the R ticket and win easy!

I am generally not comfortable with people having what I think of as obscene amounts of money, so much money that they can't possible spend it all if they went shopping all day.  On the other hand, if a multi-billionaire used their money, influence and power to find a way to do one or more of the following: clean the plastic out of the oceans, slow the unnatural rate of species decline, clean up the air and water, end global warming, resolve homeless issues, end hunger, end racism, end endless war, then yes, I would be most grateful for that person having all that money.  Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, I'm told, do a pretty good job trying.  I wouldn't mind seeing a lot more of that.

You know that is false. Nothing about wanting a progressive income tax and less starving children means wealthy have to stop making $

You do realize the wealthy will pay what some perceive as fair tax?  The wealthy have the best accountants/lawyer.

Individual wealth really isn't the issue. The problem as democratic socialists see it is that corporations make billions in profits while their workers are not getting paid enough to even live a middle class life. If one wants to think of that in terms of the actual CEOs and whatnot getting millions in bonuses every year while they continue to pay workers shit wages, then sure, I suppose you're right.... But who in their right mind thinks that is a good system that creates a thriving economy and population??

Some of you might need a better job if you are standing by waiting on me to respond, I actually have a busy life.

Europe.  I wouldn"t call Europe success.  Every country is being invaded by people that have no desire to be Europeans.  I just read of another gang rape of some young Swedish girl that was broadcast on fb live for three hours.  Shockingly enough none of the rapists were European.

I was in Tallinn Estonia back in 04 hanging out with this Russian girl.  She asked where I was staying and I told her the hotel and she said that place is expensive.  I told her it was a little under $200 a night.  She said that was more than she made in a month.

But her college was free and when she got sick she didn't have any medical bills!

Everyone can be what they want to.  People are given equal starts, the results are what they put into it.  Surely that isn't absolute but I would say if you work for something you can attain it

Woe is me.  Pity party.  It's everyone's fault but my own.

Sorry, I worked for everything I have.

Oh an admitted Commie called me a racist, my heart hurts.

Did someone say you haven’t worked? I’ve worked since I was a teenager. Does that make me special in some way?

Hmmn, well I could have sworn you said that, but if not I issue a retraction and a wholehearted apology.  Please accept that.

I'm not a racist btw, but that word have lost it's sting because everyone right of Elizabeth Warren is either a racist or a Nazi according to the left in 2018.

unless you were abdandoned as a baby and raised by wolves, no,  you didn't work for everything you have. even in that event you were taught how to survive and skills from said wolves. you were "given" those skills to apply to working for what you have.

well generally when someone is born into poverty, it's not their fault. they also work for everything, but they don't have the same opportunities at advancement in society that you (presumably) and I do.

same goes for someone born rich. they have obvious advantages. I don't bemoan them for it anymore than I bemoan someone born into poverty. it's just a cold hard fact.

I started out in a middle class family. I am now a middle class family of my own. it's incredibly difficult and rare to move classes, especially the lower on the economic scale you are. this is not disputable.

Okay thanks I guess. I definitely never said I was a Commie .... I am calling you that because of your very own words over time in this forum, not at all because I think everyone right of left is racist. I don't think that at all. You seem to have mistaken me for an illogical moron. FYI, I'm not.
