    I never felt comfortable in Jerusalem (my mind always wanders to regional conflicts, oppression, and historical blood spilled for the city) but I can certainly appreciate the beauty of the physical city.

    I know exactly what you’re saying.  In my mind, I’m still very conflicted.  Everything about the region is complicated.  The weight of history in that region is still very omnipresent.

    This discussion is not really relevant to this thread, but I hear what you are saying, in theory and in practise, apartheid is, in my opinion, evil.  Hence my conflicted feelings about enjoying my trip.  If you need or want further clarification, I would be happy to discuss it in dm’s.
