Oh no really I’m crushed devastated don’t know what I’m gonna do damn. Do I write 10C to find out if this is true I’m not sure I can deal with no new music from the band that’s always on the road , how did this happen don’t they know we are here waiting for any snippet of new music , I’ll even take a new note just one note or even written word from them .....

But the Can't Deny Me download said "from the forthcoming album", it could be tomorrow, next tuesday or May 10th...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

Well let's hope when they said forthcoming album, they didn't mean like 'Chinese Democracy' was forthcoming for GNR for what, like 10 or 15 years?.
    Exactly what I was thinking....

As long as the Cubs are predicted to do good, I don't think Eddie will want to take that gamble of being on the road during the playoffs in October and November.
I don't think he has to worry this year.
    Looooooooong sigh.

  • Does it make sense though for them to release a record RIGHT before they start touring, or during their tour? Isn't the usual formula play a few shows (when they are non-record shows) around the world, tour's done, more work on record, finish record, hype up new record, then announce new tour? They probably are just taking their time with the new record (which I hoped they would). But they obviously have to keep people interested, hence the Can't Deny Me release and current tour. I bet once this round of shows is over they'll head back into the studio to finish things up . . .though I can't make any guesses as to when another tour would be. I mean I guess one could argue that it's already done . . . but it seems more logical to me that it still may be a ways off. I mean all the guys were friends with Chris Cornell . . . his death as well as everything else that's been happening these past few years doesn't exactly boost the creative process as far as quickness of completion. (and just an aside why the hell haven't they played TDbank arena/fleet center in Boston in almost 9 years??? In my opinion the Boston area shows have not had the same magic since . . . please no more dropping baseball players name into the songs at Fenway this year . . .)

I think Jeff is playing the misdirection game, here. They're not going back into the studio because the record is done and ready for release.  I still think we'll get it before the Euro tour starts.

Dimitri posted a while back that they recorded a lot of stuff last year. He doesn't seem to be wrong about his inside info. Hopefully we get something before the summer shows.

I never saw that posted anywhere. Do you remember what thread it was in? Would love to read it.

The word "forthcoming" doesn't mean "upcoming".
I think they recorded some demos in the last months but I don't think the new record, unfortunately, is "coming soon". Maybe PJ will release the new album in 2019 (or 2020) but, again, don't think the new record is done. Maybe I'm wrong (hope so).

I think they wrote some stuff together and recorded one song with the intent to finish the album after the 2018 tour. We will see!

As stated...it’s from the ‘forthcoming’ album. I can’t imagine there is too much more to record, or no plans to anyway, because they must be pretty certain it’s going to be on there. If there were any more writing sessions with the intentions to record more tracks then there’d be no guarantee it would end up on there.

I agree. I'm still thinking spring 2019 though would be a safer bet.

Well, maybe Eddie Vedder will make another soundtrack or something.  I would be good with that.

I thought it was weird they said it was from "the forthcoming album".   Instead of the usual here's the album announcement and here's the first single.    Make's it sound like they wanted to put out a song, but weren't as close to putting out the album as we hoped?

This album could be one of those releases where there is no media, hype or release date. Just ‘here it is’ for immediate stream or download. Then a physical release and vinyl a few weeks later.

Ed has produced less music the last 5 years than all the other members. I'm not holding my breath

Zero chance of this. This band is ALL about Merch and selling maximum stuff.  Multiple merch trailers, pop up shops, etc. They’re about as far from “let’s fly under the radar” as you can get.  MLB stadiums isn’t a nonchalant tour either.

“But after 28 years together, the band doesn't plan to slow down its heavy touring schedule.”

Heavy?? Ha! 15 Europe dates and touring only 4 US cities does not a heavy touring schedule make - or at least, it didn’t use to be.

They're basically the Stones at this point, except the Stones have released an album more recently, play live more often, and have more vault releases
