I think this is a really great series. You can’t call an artist ‘lazy’ when all three prints look this good!“Do not postpone happiness”
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)
“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
(Tim Rogers)0 -
I don't think the term "lazy" is accurate either. Obviously a lot of hours and work go into creating artwork like this. Maybe the word people are looking for is "uninspired". I can see how one would be tempted to repeat a concept that was previously very successful. I still think the London poster was the best, due to the colors, but I entered the lottery for Sao Paulo since I don't have either of the others. Good luck!0

I think that when folks are used to being viewers of art and not creators of such things, a series may look as a way to ride the coattails of a prior success. For centuries, artists have worked in series or formula. Just because someone works within a particular frame of inspiration doesn't mean any less for their work. Sometimes the viewers disagree and honestly, you'll have that.
No one told Georgia O'Keefe that she was lazy for painting flowers. Van Gogh went through the blue period. Albrecht Durer had a similar way of working on plates-- a style that you can recognize without knowing that his initials are buried in there somewhere. Joseph Cornell created boxes, the most delicious boxes ever, such greatness contained within. Sol LeWitt had instructions that he gave off to people to interpret and create from. Andy Warhol worked pop art, soup cans to brillo pads and such. Rothko . . . Lichtenstein . . . Oldenburg . . .
The fact is that Dan is a true talent. As a printmaker by degree, I absolutely love his work. My friend owns the Louisville print and I threatened to hug its beauty. (I was allowed to air hug. He didn't want creases.
)
A beautiful triptych. My thoughts? He'll probably leave it at three and move on from there. Such beauty in the work he creates. Not for everyone, but definitely for those who own delight in a thoughtfully created work.2014: Cincinnati

You have to enter your shipping address. Also, I read that multiple entries from one person will be ignored and discarded. I would play it safe and enter once.tempo_n_groove said:It doesn't say if you can enter more than once?!?0 -
"The lottery will close on Tuesday morning at 9am PST / 5pm UK / at which point we will then be randomly choosing winners from the entrants."0

I remember a few people here had their Bourbon orders cancelled and they get automatic dibs on this poster. So the lottery is definitely going to have less than 100 winners. It’ll be fun. Id love to get the final piece!
re: artwork. London is untouchable. The colors, the emotion of that tour and addressing Cornell. It all shows in that drawing. The red sky on the variant is terrific. I think its a top 5 PJ poster ever.
I would like to see something else but if anything a third one enhances the whole deal and makes it less lazy to me and more a series.
Id still love to see what he does with a non-bridge PJ poster tho. He’s an incredible artist. Doing a ton of stuff for Disney now.Post edited by cp3iverson on0 -

Any guesses on the odds?0

HA ... I'm sure the odds are stacked against us my friend0

It’s interesting that they want your address in the email. Perhaps an attempt to weed out flippers by cross referencing eBay sales?1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh 20

Might just be for the invoicing part of it, So they know how much to invoice the winner for shipping cost.0 -
I'm thinking to avoid multiple entries. It's easy (and probably pretty common) to have multiple e-mail addresses, but your shipping address will probably be the same each time.on2legs said:It’s interesting that they want your address in the email. Im counting on trades or ebay to complete this set.
Odds will be difficult for sure lol
Im glad theres a lottery tho. His website sales have been a joke for me.0 -
I'm guessing there will be a lot of shenanigans with people putting in like 20 entries. Therefore all of our odds are likely to be minuscule at best. I'll be shocked if I get chosen. It's a beautiful poster.0

People will still cheat the system no doubt. A flipper can have a network of addresses to use
i entered once. Maybe the poster gods will smile on some of us0 -
I entered the lottery as well. My wife is worried though - if we win this one, she'll want to complete the set!cp3iverson said:Im counting on trades or ebay to complete this set.
