Tennis is a rather boring sport ... sure great athletes though.  The semi-final, over 6 hours long...

In the 2015 Super Bowl there was 12 minutes of actual game play.  I won't watch football anymore.  Total snooze fest.  So many TV breaks and time between plays.

I was just discussing all the commercials and timeout that are in football with my Dad...because we both love the speed of FIFA ... the World Cup game was over in around 2 hours...
I went to my first soccer match in Atlanta this year and there were like 45k people there that were all into it.  Had a lot of fun and like you said there is always action going on and  dry little breaks.  I would go to a soccer match before an NFL game.

And MLS is a whole heluva lot cheaper than an NFL game!

A buddy of mine (former DC United fan) moved to Seattle and fell in love with the Sounders atmosphere. The fight songs & chants really crack me up!

    Build a bonfire,
    Build a bonfire,
Put the Timbers on the top,
Put the Whitecaps in the middle,
And we’ll burn the fucker up!

That's pretty cool.  I am really going to learn a little about football.

Anyone been following the US Open? 2 of the big 3 already out and Rafa just choked away a 4-0 lead in the first set, 5-4 now. Disappointed to see Federer fade last night with what seemed to be some sort of injury, especially after Novak had retired from his match the day before.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Also, Schwartzman kind of reminds me of Corey Haim from his License to Drive days and his name keeps making me think of Spaceballs. May the Schwartz be with you! Guy is short!

And Nadal is playing like 10 feet behind the baseline on Schwartzman's serve like he's firing heaters at him, but he's only tossing them in the high 90's, low 100's.

I saw last nights match between Federer and the other guy which was good.

When did tonight's match start, 10? why so late? Nadal should win. He looks jacked.

Match started at 945 EST. Women's match before ran longer so it got pushed back. Going to be a long night at this rate, 5-5 in the 2nd. Nadal blew double break lead again. Should be well in to the 3rd by now, but he's making himself work harder than he should tonight.

Indeed. Another awesome and epic final at a major on the men's side.

Nadal is fun to watch. He is so finicky and really enjoys himself a fresh towel.

Bianca Andreescu wins the US open. First Canadian singles champion (male or female). She apologizes to the crowd for winning, knowing they were cheering for Serena. Serena later states “I love Bianca, I think she’s a great girl, but I think this is the worst match I’ve played all tournament. And it’s hard to know that you could do better,” she told reporters after the match. “It’s inexcusable for me to play at that level.”

Sore loser in my opinion. In her mind she lost because she sucked, not because her opponent was better. That's not how you carry yourself at that level.
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

I get what you're saying, but I also think she is admitting that she played poorly. Nothing wrong with that. Her wording could have been more complimentary of Bianca coupled with her self degradation. Bianca did play great through the whole tournament. Caught the last set of her semifinal match. She seems like a force to be reckoned with for the future of women's tennis.

she has kind of a history of being an entitled sore loser though (WHEN she loses).

Yeah, I love great matches, but dedicating 5 hours to watching one of those sure is a drain on fans too. It's not a waste of time, but when it's over you're like, WTF!, my day is over already. Reminds me of getting sucked in to video games as a kid and saying, just one more level...3 hours later...

Exactly why I can't stand Serena. She has a track record of downplaying her opponent when she loses.  She got a beat down in straight sets by someone half her age and ten times more humble.  Someone who, despite winning her FIRST EVER Grand Slam tournament, being the FIRST EVER Canadian to win the US Open, and the FIRST EVER player born in the 2000's to win a GS - something she's dreamed of her entire life - apologizes to the crowd because they wanted her opponent to win over her.  Serena could take some lessons.

I love it when Canadians do stereotypical Canadian things. Just reinforces that stuff to the world. Funny stuff.

Oh for sure! One of the reasons I never was that much of a fan of hers for years. I appreciate her skill level, but her attitude and personality have never been impressive.
