    Never had a mint julep.

I pretty much drink exclusively Maker’s Mark products, or other wheated bourbons. I started on a bourbon kick about 8 months ago and I drank way too much at one time for a beginner, and now rye bourbons (which almost all bourbons are) make me sick instantly. Luckily wheaters were my favorite anyway. Maker’s 46 is probably my favorite but the cask strength is awesome too. I’ve also had and loved the Larceny that northerndragon posted above (a wheater), have been meaning to grab a bottle for awhile now.

I always go neat, adding ice or even stones takes all of the flavor out of it for me. I’m the same way with all drinks though, even soda I like to have just a few degrees under room temperature because it tastes bland to me if it’s ice cold.

Even though rye bourbons make me sick, I do want to try the 4 roses considering the glowing reviews I’ve seen here and in the pappy van winkle thread.

^ I know there’s a separate thread for this, but does anyone have a beat on where to get a bottle without paying astronomical ( see above) prices?  I’m guessing no, but worth a shot asking.

The 12 yr would be ideal for me. Any tips are appreciated.

you gotta be in the right place at the right time.

I also post on a baseball collecting site and a dude in some eastern state (MD?) has scored a bottle of almost every variety for less than $150 ea.

Thanks for the tip. I know a guy who’s in some bourbon club so I’m hoping maybe he can score me one, but I know it’s a fat chance. I’ll keep trying though! Sounds like the dude you mention is in the right place at the right time pretty often ;)
