Sad day indeed. After watching the Long Time Running documentary I have a new found love for Gord and the band. It is incredible what he went through to prepare for that last tour. What a strong and loving man. RIP.

Haven't seen it yet but my wife went and saw it and said it was really good. Will definitely be watching with a heavier heart when I do watch it in November

For all of our Canadian friends Long Time Running will air nationally on CTV on November 12. Steaming on Crave TV the following day. Our international friends will be able to stream on Netflix on November 26

Thanks for the heads up. I will set the DVR. I still have the Kingston show saved on it.

Ha same here. It's one of those recordings that will not be deleted.

Double Fuck as I just realized that this news broke exactly 5 months to the day since we've lost Chris.
  • Sad day. :-( RIP Gord, you were an original.

    October 18, 2017

Last night Gord quietly passed away with his beloved children and family close by.

Gord knew this day was coming – his response was to spend this precious time as he always had – making music, making memories and expressing deep gratitude to his family and friends for a life well lived, often sealing it with a kiss… on the lips.

Gord said he had lived many lives. As a musician, he lived “the life” for over 30 years, lucky to do most of it with his high school buddies. At home, he worked just as tirelessly at being a good father, son, brother, husband and friend. No one worked harder on every part of their life than Gord. No one.

We would like to thank all the kind folks at KGH and Sunnybrook, Gord’s bandmates, management team, friends and fans. Thank you for all the help and support over the past two years.

Thank you everyone for all the respect, admiration and love you have given Gord throughout the years – those tender offerings touched his heart and he takes them with him now as he walks among the stars.

    Love you forever Gord.

Gord Downie his all about the pure definition of "live performances".  The connection with all of us in front of him was exceptionnal... Besides Pearl Jam, The Tragically Hip was my thing... my recluse... my inspiration... Gord Downie made me wanted to see every other bands live to discover what they were all about... 1 other band gave me those chills... its PJ...  All those stories, those smiles...  Gord and Ed are all about the music, the fans, the connection between us...

Will never forget you Gord... thank you for being a part of my life... and thank you for giving me the opportunity to discover live music like never before...

I was prepared for this day - I think it was harder for me when I found out he had terminal brain cancer than it was to wake up to this terrible news. Nonetheless, I'm so, so sad about this. I feel the void. Never again will we have someone like Gord. :heartbreak:
