i never cared much for this song, always thought of it as one of the weaker early pj songs. but i think im starting to get it.

Besides the thing about being a child and not knowing what to do, I think it could also be about dreams, and wanting something so bad and doing everything you can for them, but in the end nothing really matters in life as long as you enjoy it.

also he's thinking back to his childhood and when he tried to decide what to do with his life and that there was more than the home town life

if you guys want to hear a great one listen to Breath from Lexington 03, its just great how Eddie forgets like every word, but thats what makes to unique. But thats my 2 cents

Breath was my first favorite Pearl Jam song, years before I ever joined the Ten Club or even considered myself a dedicated fan. That opening guitar gets me every time. Whenever they play it on the radio I've got my stereo cranked before the song really starts. It still is a huge favorite in my book but since Yield came out it's had some stiff competition with In Hiding and GTF

I was estatic when I got to hear it live in Lexington KY in 03 but for some reason it didn't have quite the punch that the studio version had

I can't for the life of me find a good rendition of "IMORTALITY" live. I own all of the 2000 Bootlegs, and everytime I put one version of the song Ed is forgetting the words! I love that song. Anyone know a good live version? :cool:

Oh yeah but about Breath. Don't you just love the voice on that one. I love Ed's voice in the beginning years. It was so dam sexy. Still makes me shiver!:cool:

I saw last night, one of my vcds from 8/23/91 w/VEDHEAD27, and this redention of this song, everyone in the band was happy, including Eddie! It kind of reminded me of MSG when he was just smiling and every single band member was smiling as well. It is ALWAYS a pleasure to hear this song LIVE

I have only heard it once, and that was @ MSG I where it was beautiful captured for me to relive again and again, and NOW, for everything HOLY play this song and SOLAT after one another!!! I'll be in heaven!!:)
