I saw the original video from Hunters and Collectors on vh1 classic's show, Alternative...pretty rad. Very beautiful song, especially when everyone in the band is singing in circles.:)

  • I was lucky enough to see this from the 2nd row in perth. The tears started as soon as i saw Mark Seymour come out - i knew what they were going to play and it made for a very special moment with my hubby. We have had this song on H & C CD for years and it means a lot to us.

An absolutely awesome version..... and to top it off, when we were leaving Perth the next morning, Mark Seymour was jogging along the Esplanade, shirtless and..... Oh My that man is in good nick. We waved out to him, told him "You and Ed rocked last night" and got a smile and wave back - even though i think we spoilt his cover, if you know what i mean.

We are so lucky being able to see it on the MSG DVD!!!

  • I was hiding in Rod Laver Arena for the 19/2/03 soundcheck, the music filling the empty stadium with incredible sound, so different to when there's a full crowd.

We heard Sleight of Hand, Rival, Breath and then .... Throw Your Arms Around Me. Just Ed on stage, singing it to just eight or so of us (not that he could see us). It was amazing.

  • While i think Ed does a marvellous job of this song I think the best version i heard was during the H@C farewell tour.

  • This song was written by Australian band Hunters and Collectors in the late 1980s. The original version sung by lead vocalist Mark Seymour is the best. Trust me. :)

a lot of people dont realise that it is an australian/new zealand song, written by mark seymour, of 80's pub rock band hunters and collectors. hunters were a fair cool band, they have a lot of great song, but this is by far their best.

mark seymour has a heap of solo stuff out, and i rate it fairly high. his album 'one eyed man' is awesome and has heaps of good tracks on it, and a hidden track at the end of a new version of TYAAM.

but the perth version of eddie and mark together (as heard on the perth cd, and seen on the live at the garden dvd) is totally awesome, and one of, if not the best, version ive heard.

ive never been to a party where there has been a guitar and not played this song. everyone always knows the words, and think you are awesome for playing it, when it is one of the easiest songs to play in the world. :)

    happy memories....great song....

i have heard both verisons of the song, I even saw the video for it on "The Alternative" on VH1 Classic. Very touching song.:)

btw, a little tid bit, Mark Seymour's brother, was the bassist for Crowded House :D They also did a version of this song on "Crowded House/Tim Finn: MTV Unplugged" I started crying when they pulled this song out

I like the version from Mountain View '03, it is fabulous remake.
  • I was at the Perth concert when Mark/Ed sang it and it was awesome. One of my favourite songs combining with my favourite band was as good as it gets. Mark Seymour's going to be in town playing next week, and I'll be there just to hear the lastest rendition of Throw your arms, cant get sick of it.

I love this song, sadly i didn't get to hear it on this tour, but I love this song and heard it on the boots. To those of you who have heard it, you are truly lucky and blessed. :)

Lately, I had this song on my mind, which is really strange and yet nice. Longing for that someone that you truly care for and just want to reach out and touch them. Even something that is just instance and you know that it is there. I don't know how to explain it. Enjoy!!

    ~THROW YOUR ARMS AROUND ME~

oh my...GR VFC show...unbelievable experience...six rows back, dead center...i'm not the type to claim things happened that didn't...but i swear ed was singing directly to me...even if he wasn't in his mind, he was in mine...i'll never forget that time...truly beautiful.

Neil has been doing it since his Crowded House days. I know they do it on an old MTV Spring Break '87 (yup '87, when MTV still played music). But he did it as recently as the end of March at 3 Royal Albert hall shows with his brother Tim. Nick Seymour ( fellow Crowdie & Mark's brother) was there as well (moral support as Paul Hester, Crowdie drummer, had died that weekend). I know there are some CH boots where they do it and if I recall correctly, a live version may have been a b-side, but I could be wrong :-)
