Songs that hurt...

Hard To Imagine.

I just read that the boys played it acoustic style at the GOrge.....I felt like I was kicked in the stomache. It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written and the music fits it to a 't'....I should be in love with it but it seriously makes me sick.

What's your song?

  • I am mine is great song for me and thumbing my way. Both songs that hit you and make you think.
  • for me it´s immortality from pj, and "hurt" in the version sung by johnny cash. these two songs make me cry almost every time i listen to them, and, on the other side they give me power. listening to immortality, i have to think of cobain and the tragedy of life. hurt sung by cash is a song that is so real it makes me feel cash wrote it, and his voice is so powerfull and the lyrics so hard. listen to it if you just haven´t already.
    i hurt myself today,
to see if i still feel,
    i focus all the pain,
    the only thing that´s real...
  • The Deepness...the depth of the words he chooses...
...anything Eddie sings could make me cry at any time!

"After all that's been done and we're still alone..I won't be taken, yet I'll go..."
  • Man of the Hour gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it.

    Non PJ releated:
    Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Down in a Hole - Alice in Chains. The unplugged version makes me sad

I've always felt that way about the song "Sea of Love" by Phil Phillips. There is just something about that song that just makes me emotionally sad

i will come to you in the daytime
i will raise you from your sleep
i will kiss you in four places
as i go runnin' down your street
i will squeeze the life right out of your
i will make you laugh, i'll make you cry
and we may never forget it
as i make you call my name as i shout it to the blue, summer sky
and we may never meet again
so shed your skin lets get started
and you will throw your arms around me
and you will throw your arms around me
i will come to you at nightime
i will climb into your bed
i will kiss you in 155 places
as i go runnin' round in your head
i will squeeze the life right out of your
i will make you laugh, i'll make you cry
and we may never forget it
as i make you call my name as i shout it to the blue, summer sky
and we may never meet again
so shed your skin lets get started
and you will throw your arms around me
and you will throw your arms around me
ohh yeah, uh huh, uh huh...
    ohh yeah, uh hum, ooh...
ohh yeah, uh huh, uh huh...
oh...and you will throw your arms around me...
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

    so right

i am mine is another particularly important song to me....present tense, black, etc etc
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

  • release. i can't even remember if i ever listened to it without crying... i don't listen to it very often because it's just too heavy.
and i have this bootleg-dvd of pj live in mexico "el ultimo dia de la gira". the solo mike plays in this particular version of black just tears me apart.

From PJ, I guess the songs that hurts the most are I Got Id and Off He Goes.

  • Indifference kills me.

On the way home from my husband's funeral, I stopped by our house and picked up what was left of his CDs. He'd sing it at the top of his lungs.. especially the last couple of weeks. He just.. screamed it. It was the first song he recorded, as well.

Anyway! I got the guts to listen to it at the airport, and I nearly had a nervous breakdown. I just.. freaked out. Whenever I listen to Ten or Vitology.. my heart just hurts (literally as well).

    Indifference kills me.

Eh.. a lot of them, but Indifference the most.

To the original post, hsewif....that version is absolutely out of this world!!! One of the best ever imo. WOW! :o

When it comes to PJ, the one that hurts the most for me is RELEASE all the way. I can't even listen to it and it's one of my fav songs. :( It's way too much to handle though.

  • throw your arms around me. Its the song that my wife and I picked as our first dance at our wedding. so i guess that it hurts in a good way..
  • There's a few minutes near the end of side two of "Albert Ayler, Live at Slug's Saloon, May 1 1966 Volume Two", on the track "Our Prayer". I've NEVER heard anything so heavy. Such uplifting spirit and rock bottom despair in one devastating, howling saxophone. I can only listen to it about once a year.
