That's a song I would love to hear live... I went to the D.C. show this year and it was AMAZING, but none of their more unusual songs were played. I like all the songs that get radio play, but my favorites are ones like "Smile", "In My Tree", and "Sleight of Hand"-- which is so beautiful it's hard to take sometimes! Hello, Alive Again; I like what you said about priorities...
    Recycle...what goes around comes around.

    <~~~ listening to album version

God! This song is just as incredible as ever. I love it Alive Again, it "scoops you up and carries you". That is SO true. The music here is like nothing I have ever heard. Something totally new and fresh for Pearl Jam. This song is just beautiful, SO unique and SO moving!!!

And yeah...A LOT has happened since I last posted in this thread. I GOT TO SEE THIS SONG LIVE!!!!!! :o  :o

As I mentioned before, I speculated this song would be outta this world to actually experience live. OMG IT WAS!!!! And so much more. I was beyond happy when they busted this one out at Benaroya. My whole body started to shiver...and then once the song actually started. WOW! It's an out of body experience for sure.

The break down...right before "When he reached the shore ". :o HOLY SHIT! LIVE?! IT'S PERFECT! And NOTHING can beat hearing, seeing, and feeling Ed during "see you on the ooooooooother siiiiiideeeee". Breath-taking! I was left with jaw on floor. Man! I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it. AND it was acoustic?!!?

I feel this song now more then ever. A song that truely takes you places RIGHT HERE.

    THANK YOU PEARL JAM!

    THANK YOU ED & JEFF!

    It's magic.

Routine was the theme. He'd wake up wash and pour himself into uniform.
    Something he hadn't imagined being.

Do people relate to this? Do other people out there remember what this is like to feel each day. God help me...How can we let this be...

"Mondays were made to fall. Lost on a road he knew by heart.
It was like a book he read in his sleep. Endlessly.
Sometimes he hid in the radio watching other pull into their homes.
    While he was drifting."

Man i totally get that part. Sometimes where you just want to be alone and see everything around moving as you sit there and relax.

This song puts me in a relaxing mood, where you just want to chill out and let the day pass you by.

I am listening to the Little Rock verison of this song..it FREAKIN" ROCKS!! :D It was a DEFINITE highlight of the tour for me

  • For the longest time, I didn't understand what people saw in this song. I thought it was kinda boring.
But the other night I was listening to Binaural, and I was like, that song is kinda cool. Then I read the lyrics the other night, and listened to it again, and WOW!!!
I have it on a few boots too, but I've always just kinda skipped over it. I even saw them play it live in Va. Beach in 2000, but I wasn't into it then.
  • bump! I love this song sooo much!!!

Truer words were never sung. As mentioned before, this song really does take you places. It may be a place that you're scared to confront...reality!

"seeee you on the other siiiiiiiiiiiiiide"

    It never fails!

    Break the cycle!!

BUMP it up as I sit here listening to the CALGARY version!

OMG I still can't believe I WAS THERE!! Wooow! :o:o:o

I remember hearing this intro, closing my eyes and instantly having my head fall back. Absolutely gorgeous. It really is quite the experience live. And...GO BOOM! Sounds sooooo beautiful.

Damn Spomenka....that part never fails to send shivers all up and down my spine. This is one that will always move me...no matter how many times I hear it. This harsh beauty digs deep. So haunting but also so comforting...

    {{THANK YOU PJ}}

  • question- there's been debate about this - does he commit suicide at the end of the song?
