I feel it!
One song that definitely is a part of the "repeat" club. I can never listen to this one just once. I crave it even after I have just listened to it. This song is fuckin intense/beautiful/sad/powerful and seems to be real easy to relate to at times.
HOB version this year!? MY GOD! Animated Eddie. Made this song that much more amazing.
*bows down Sleight Oƒ Hand and all it's glory*
~√~√~( Sleight oƒ Hand ) ~√~√~
Routine was the theme. He'd wake up wash and pour himself into uniform.
Something he hadn't imagined being.
As the merging traffic passed he found himself staring down at his own hands.
Not remembering the change. Not recalling the plan. Was it?
He was okay but wondering about wandering.
Was his age by consequence or was he moved by sleight of hand?
Mondays were made to fall. Lost on a road he knew by heart.
It was like a book he read in his sleep. Endlessly.
Sometimes he hid in the radio watching other pull into their homes.
While he was drifting.
On a line of his own. Off the line of the side. Bye the by.
As dirt turned to sand. As if moved by sleight of hand.
When he reached the shore of his clip on world he resurfaced to the norm.
Organized his few things. His coat and keys.
And he knew realizations would have to wait.
Till he had more time. More time.
A time to dream to himself. He waves goodbye to his self.
I'll see you on the other side.
Another man moved by slight of hand.

Yeah it's amazing! I didn't get this one at any of my shows this year. :( That's ok though...I felt it everytime it was played and the boots have done a fine job at recycling that magic.¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤

one of the most beautiful songs translated live...the guitar effects are insane.

was it the Boston 2000 boot that Stone screwed up that song at the beginning, and then he "punished" the audience by singing MANKIND! hahahahaha

i love this song
i've been so lucky to see it live quite a few times
it's so damn sad and lonely and desolute and defeated but with that
little bit of hope that kind of elevates you through it
like sad tears while your smilingwe're all sentient snowflakes

I'm a number that doesn't count

Live a few times?! Man, you are lucky.
*it's so damn sad and lonely and desolute and defeated but with that little bit of hope that kind of elevates you through it like sad tears while your smiling*
EXACTLY! Gorgeous way to describe it and I could not agree more.
As mentioned before...I FEEL IT. The force is strong with this one.¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤

There is so much hopelessness in the lyrics about a way of life that's so easy for all of us to drift into. I like to listen to it to remind myself to keep striving for more out of life.". . . as each breath goes by I only own my mind."0
-
binaural actually took me a while to get into but this is one song i felt from the beginning. it seems to dive into the alienation i feel sometimes. i've never heard it live. i used to live in fargo, where they played it. i now live in dallas, where they did not play it. sucks to be me. but anyway, sleight of hand is way good. and i got the fargo boot anyway.
outi wait up in the dark
for you to speak to me
i'm opened up
release me........
ask me about trading boots if you're interested...but i will totally screw you over so be careful0 -
I fucking can't beileve Eddie wrote that.
Not bad for a kid from Chicago.PresiWAH of the Evenflow Fan Club
Don't need a hand, there's always arms attached.
Don't get behind I can't fall back.
Why must we trust all these rusted rails?
They don't want no change. We already have.0 -
I love to just put this song on the stereo, fairly loud, then lay on the couch with my eyes closed and absorb it all in. It's an absolutely beautiful song. I would definitely have to agree with you on this one.
But didn't Jeff actually write this song, not Eddie?0 -
Jeff wrote the music, but Eddie wrote the lyrics.". . . as each breath goes by I only own my mind."0

Yeah I know exactly what you guys mean about it not quite hitting you at first. A friend of mine never understood why I thought this song was soooo amazing. Finally I sat her down, had her watch the HOB performance and read the lyrics at the same time. She was BLOWN AWAY!!!! Once you are aware of those fuckin incredible words the song becomes something seriously incredible to you. Everything fits.¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤

god. eddie writes the most amazing songs. and this one... wow. just wow. each word just hits hard each time that i hear it...
it is a magical song... that is for sure.
it encompasses every emotion known to man, and then more. it is bitter and so hopeful. it makes me cringe and get the goosebumps.
i love it.0
