and i love the way the song starts, so quietly with this dirge-like swelling up into just a proclamation of love and hope. can't imagine this song without boom, that's for sure!
what amazes me is how a song that could just solely be sad finds a way to also be hopeful and uplifting. how a truly horrific event inspired such a beautiful song. they have a talent for achieving that balance in their music, mixing light into gray.

yea Eddie seems to be good at that. taking a fucked up situation and making music out of it. he has a powerful ability to write lyrics that always make sense. I'm sure he wishes these fucked up situations wouldn't occur so much. but at least music is a release for him and for us as Fans
the great thing is as much of a release it is for him and the guys, it transcends its original intent and becomes a release for others, regardless of their personal situations. it becomes personal to each person for different reasons.
