    BOOM fans! We need your help!! We are trying to find ANY old images of The Sonics for the film! So if anybody knows anybody who might have some old pictures or film laying around in boxes or storage, PLEASE let us know! Anything involving any of the original members of the band would be HUGE!! Also looking for any old pictures of Tacoma/Seattle from the 50's and 60's. Thanks!!

    My first thought was, "Jeff would be the most appropriate member of the band to talk about The Sonics."
    Then I realized we were talking about the band, not the awesome basketball team that once called Seattle home. That's a story that deserves it own well done documentary as well.

    Thanks so much to everyone who came out to see BOOM at film festivals this year. I really appreciate the support. It's been an incredible journey so far. The plan is to let the film play at festivals for another year or so and then hopefully it'll be released everywhere shortly after. So, if you'd like to see Boom brought to a festival near you, write them and let them know.
    Also, if you did manage to catch the film please go onto the IMDB and give the film a rating/write a review. Those ratings are extremely helpful. Thanks so much! And keep an eye on this page for updates!

    If it wasn’t for this guy here - Mike McCready, the film would have never happened. After spending years trying to secure financing for the doc I had given up completely. Not just on the movie, but on my career in film. I moved from LA to Montana and started working at a Sushi Restaurant. The film was essentially dead. That was until the day Mike and his family came walking into Dave’s Sushi. I knew Mike was a fan of the band and I had been trying to get in touch with him for years. When I told him what I was trying to do, he said he’d be happy to be involved. Then he pulled out his phone and said “who else do you need”?
    He sat there and texted a bunch of rock stars and completely validated what I was trying to accomplish.
    At that point I decided I’d make the film, financed or not.
    I’ll forever be in debt to Mike’s generosity, and his belief in me.

    After three years of silence, BOOM is back! The award winning documentary that played to sold out crowds around the world is FINALLY GETTING RELEASED!
    But, before it’s world wide release later this year Boom will be screening at a few select film festivals. First up: the Vashon Island Film festival.

    BOOM: a film about The Sonics with play on August 12th at 2:30pm.

    Director Jordan Albertsen will be in attendance.

    The Forge

    The documentary Boom, featuring Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready and Soundgarden‘s Kim Thayil, will premiere in theaters in September. 

    Boom tells the story of the influential garage band The Sonics, who formed in Tacoma, Washington, in the ’60s, 30 years before the grunge explosion in nearby Seattle.

    “Their influence on me and Soundgarden is profound,” Thayil says of The Sonics in the Boom trailer, which is streaming now on YouTube.

    Others in the film include Heart‘s Nancy Wilson and Mudhoney‘s Mark Arm.

    Boom will screen in Seattle on Sept. 7 and Los Angeles on Sept. 12 before opening in select theaters on Sept. 13. For the full list of screenings, visit SonicsFilm.com.

    That's right. Boom is FINALLY being released.
    Starting September 13th, Jordan Albertsen's film, fifteen years in the making, Boom: A film about the Sonics will open in select theaters and will play through December.
    All current screenings (more will be added) are listed on the films website:
    If you don't see your local independent theater listed, don't tell us, let THEM know you want to see the film in your town.
    And YES. There will be a digital and physical release to follow shortly after. And YES, it will also play internationally. All that news will be announced as it becomes available.
