WHOA!! this part of the song, now that I am analyzing the lyrics more and more, I could SO relate to this...to me, it means that you want to explore other parts of the world and live life to the fullest NO matter what gets in your way. Say goodbye to one thing and hello to another and it is a constant change of goodbyes and hellos from one part of your life into another. The whole message is to live your life to the fullest b/c you don't know when it will all be gone.

I cannot possibly give this song enough love and appreciation....it just deserves so much and GIVES so much! Those drums marching away in the beginning? Ahhh, the way it all progresses just dives into you and forces you to drift away. What a song!

Oooh and now that everyone can finally hear Benaroya...how bout that?? Wow! Just Ed and the uke?! Holy shit. That was out of this world. All songs in that place, that setting were extremely intimate but something extra stood out about this one. Something about just Ed and his uke and these words and entire feel of this song. As much as I love those drums, it really doesn't even matter if they are there. It's the song itself. Any part of it carries the magic. There is just so much to love.

ya, this song gets over shadowed by i am mine, green disease and thumbing my way. and a lot of times they open a show with love boat captain instead of this one. an under-appreciated song maybe? i love both album and acoustic versions.

Oh for sure! I LOVE the guitar too. It sounds incredible....so crystal clear and twagny. There's just so many layers to this song, in the sound and in the meaning. It's so damn deep!! It touches my SOUL and forces me to groove my heart out .
