I definitely agree about the Wrigley and Fenway shows. I was at both and both were epic, but I’d really be hoping for something different this year. At the very least, why not a different stadium? Doesn’t matter which stadium they play, it’s obviously going to sell out. They could play in Sri Lanka and it will sell out in hours. Why not Yankee stadium? Crazy history and those New Yorkers have shown they know how to bring crazy energy to shows. (I’m a west coast guy, FYI).
What history? Current Yankee Stadium opened in 2009
Good point, i just mean any other stadium that has some history. Ny is just such an epic place to have a huge show; that they will draw huge crowds. How about Camden?
There are few historical professional stadiums in the U.S. Wrigley, Fenway, Dodger Stadium and Lambeau Field. That's it.
I think D pretty much shot it down, doesn't look likely
2012 – Manchester II 2014 – Amsterdam I & II, Gdynia, Leeds, Milton Keynes 2016 – Wrigley I & II 2017 – Amsterdam III [EV] 2018 – London I, Padova, Rome, Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Wrigley I & II 2019 – Dublin [EV] 2022 – Copenhagen, Hyde Park I, St. Louis 2023 – Chicago I & II 2024 – Dublin, Manchester, Wrigley I & II, NYC I & II
Ticket demand is probably too high in Chicago play an Arena anymore? They sold out two nights at Wrigley. Imagine how tough it would be on fans to land arena tickets.
i think next time pj will go chicago, will be again wrigley
I was kind of thinking it'd be Lollapalooza next time in Chi. Especially if they're putting a new album out and also playing lolla in South America. Also with the Foo playing two nights at Wrigley, don't you think that minimizes the chance of PJ playing. Seems like Wrigley likes to keep it pretty diverse with the genres every year. Probably doesn't really matter when it comes to Pearl Jam/Eddie tho.
That's what I was thinking too. Or maybe not Wrigley just to switch it up. Although it does seem like they are able to get more fab club tix at Wrigley than other venues.
Probably be a classic case of 'UK tour' and they end up playing 1 show in london.
Always wondered if Birmingham is on the cards

If there are multiple 'legs' on different continents does anyone recall how they announce these types of tours? In other words, do they tend to wait on announcing a 2nd or 3rd leg? I would like to avoid breaking the bank to get tix to far away venues scheduled to occur earlier in the year only to find out later that closer shows will exist. Anyone got any historical insight...versus speculation?

They tend to wait an announce each leg separately. If it was two different legs to a US tour than I could see them announcing at the same time, but doubtful if three different continents.
Going back to the us stadium thing. Sure it meets demand but I say it may wear thin with wrigley and Fenway and anything other than those two speciall places will not sell out.
I went to wrigley in 13 and again in 16, and I went to Fenway in 16. I wouldn't go back to wrigley again, and probably not back to Fenway as a New Yorker.
I agree those hose places are special but as is the case with most pj shows a lot of people travel, and they already traveled. It may not be a lock that those places sell out as the traveling contingent may not drop everything if they've alredey been there, done that. This is not, imo, a stadium band. They were bigger earlier in their career and did festivals but were not a stadium fixture. Those are the only two stadiums that are acceptable and it may wear thin after each year. Both great places, great people, epic shows, but it's a stadium and a lot is lost musically for a good portion of the crowd.
If those were the ONLY options I'd go to both but that would be unfortunate any other stadium would really blow

Agree! I went to wrigley in 2013 and had no urge to go again last year or ever again. Went to the Ride Festival instead and had the time of my life!! I would however be interested in going to the united center again if they came back.

I don't disagree. I probably wouldn't go all the way back to Chicago for shows (it was the furthest I've ever traveled from the West Coast to see PJ). That being said I think the demand for PJ shows might be on the increase? The band tours less. The amount of dates are smaller, the amount of cities they play are smaller. It does cause alot of people to travel because PJ doesn't play where they live. If they toured all the time they might not be big enough for stadiums, but the small doses of touring creates pent up demand.
Plus there aren't that many big bands left from the 90s to go see. You've also got people who took a timeout to have kids and raise families back on the radar. They're kids are either grown up or old enough to go to shows now. Unless PJ goes back to 70 show tours, I can see there being big enough demand to fill some stadium shows. Almost like a residency, where the fans go to PJ, instead of PJ going to the fans.
Mad Cool Festival in Madrid will announce a seattle band tomorrow...could be Alice In Chains or Pearl Jam
My vote is for the latter.

Maybe the Wrigley and Fenway shows inspired Stone to write some Stadium size anthems again to play on the next tour in stadiums.
