Hoping they tour elsewhere than North America as I cannot afford to go to even a local show right now.

I will happily let the rest of the world enjoy their PJ before the guys come back to Toronto.

Just saw Royal Blood open for QOTSA and thought they killed it. However or it cuts the time PJ plays don't want an opening band.

Love opening bands. Builds the excitement and adds an element sometimes.  I remember Sparta blowing the roof off a few arenas before PJ

Going to be interesting to see how they roll out the announcements. If NA is before Europe will it get announced before  the Europe tour even though Europe usually gets announced in December for festival season and NA in January? If NA is in the Fall and there are ballpark shows in the summer will they announce the 4 ballpark shows first in an attempt to maximize sales and then the NA tour? I think we are still a month away from anything else being announced but these are going to be fun times.

Is it possible that we could get North America in spring (West coast), then Europe in summer, and then more North America (east coast) in Fall???!!

I definitely thought Royal Blood was a good opener for QOTSA and the crowd seemed really into them.  It was good at building excitement.  I don't know how they would go over at the Maracana versus a 3,000 seat theater.  They seem like a good party band because a lot of the fun was being up close and checking out the drumming as they are only a two piece band.

I would feel a lot worse about this if I didn't see the band in Rio in 2015.

I do enjoy a good opening band and PJ have had some greats. (Sleater-Kinney, Bad Religion, Social D. and many more) Usually leads to some cool collaborations.

Yes, please no Royal blood.  They just feel like a watered down DFA 1979 or QOTSA.  PJ doesnt need cheezy radio rock bands opening for them.  Theyve had a history of great openers , or great "evening with" shows.

If all these rumors are legit (NA, Europe and SA) I wonder if new music is actually in the works.  Are they really gonna take Lightning Bolt out again for a 6th year?

I would argue that 2016's tour was a no album tour as will be 2018 if they decide to not bring out any new music.

After a while I think they're touring without an album.   Last years tour didn't feel like a lightning bolt tour, it felt more like an '05 type tour where they were touring without an album.

edit:  I hope its a new album though.  They usually tour the most to support a new album, so if there's strong rumours of a number of dates in multiple regions.    That would seem to be a good sign?
