Prices change all the time it is crazy. Also have an Aeroplan credit card. Over the last year we have accumulated 110,000 miles. I priced booking a flight from Halifax to Amsterdam and it was 65,000 miles. I thought that was just ok but the kicker was I had to pay $670 in taxes on top of that. What a load of shit. I priced flighthub.com with out using miles and I have seen the price as low as $704 and it is a quicker flight. Aeroplan wants me to wait a full day in Toronto lol.

Canadian air reward programs are really designed to save you on short haul flights. Trust me, I know it sucks. Save those miles for NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc.

As you stated - taxes aren't covered with most plans. there's a few credit cards that let you pay taxes in miles, but the fee (at least mine) is $300 annually.

I am looking into what the best reward cards there are out there right now. Looks like Scotiabank American Express and BMO World Elite are two of the best. We have our mortgage with Scotiabank so may just go with them now.

Not to get too far off topic, but the card you seek is the SPG Amex (Canadian or American). SPG points transfer with 20% bonus to many major airlines or you can just use them at Starwood or Marriott. The taxes on Aeroplan flights makes them almost useless.

That's what I originally thought, but I'm sure Foo Fighters will headline it again. I mentioned it here a few weeks ago, but no one seemed to think that PJ would play it if they weren't the headliner.
