Well I'm as ready as I'll ever be here in the Palm Beach. I even tuned my bicycle in case my cars are incapacitated and took a large amount of cash in case of prolonged power outage. My main worries though are the possible tornados after Irma has passed through.

    Peace
    Are you riding it out?
Oh yes, told my co-workers my set up, a couple thought of coming here to stay with me as I backup I told them yes. It's just me so the more the merrier. I did tell them though if you come bring more Dos Equis. I don't drink much my first beer since my bday in March. Just chilling going through many genre of music, getting a few more gusts in full sunshine.

    Peace
Prayers with you.  Not sure I'd be sticking around.  Seems like you're gonna be on your own for days.  I hope all goes as you hope it will.

Crazy! Kind of reminds me of the end of The Hunt for Red October when they have resolved the issue of one missing sub only to reveal there is now another missing.
    It's a hopeless situation...

At least she lives in the Tampa area and won't take the direct hit that my uncle did.  Still don't understand why that if you are retired, you don't just pack up your valuables and go live in a Best Western for a week just in case.

    maybe this needs to change

In Florida, a right-to-work state with a long history of evacuations from hurricanes and other natural disasters, there is no blanket law protecting fleeing employees from dismissal for job abandonment, said Ben Yormak, a Bonita Springs employment lawyer.

“Florida just doesn’t have a specific law that says if there’s a hurricane, you’ve got to let people go,” Yormak said.

It was likely much safer for him to stay where he was. He's obviously above the water, which he wouldn't be if he left. He might have died if he tried to leave at that point! Looks like he's safe and sound, since he posted the video, lol.

What a stupid argument from a lawyer.  The people he is referring to are in the field of first responders, community servicers, etc. It's clear that they were informed of these responsibilities when they took the job.  By contrast, my people in Naples were not told they had to work in emergencies (no mention in the employment agreement), and we closed our building at 230 yesterday.  Further, we share the building with Hertz corporate and the building manager closed the building today.  That's what is happening all over south Florida. People couldn't go to work if they wanted to do so.

Its really weird seeing the folks who are there posting on here but also knowing all the peeps, PJ, family, friends, co-workers, et. al. that are either there, fleeing, hunkering down or have family/friends doing the same. I just hope I wake up on Monday and realize that everyone that I know that is there or has a connection there is still around and okay. Please stay safe, good luck and hope to see/read you all on the other side.

I was thinking about him, he lives in Jupiter which is just north of me. I haven't heard from him on here for while now but hope him and his family are well. I had to go to work to save my merchandise and secure the Club and back to work on Tuesday. Thank goodness we have generators larger than a single family home.

Hearing Irma is heading a bit further west but I still expect to get hit here in West Palm Beach and loss of power for at least two weeks.

I hope it all goes according to plan g and p. I am a bit worried to be honest, but if you think you'll be okay to ride it out I'm sure you have good reason to.... (hope you do evacuate if you get the slightest inkling it will be worse than you imagined though). Use a bit of that generator's juice to let us know you're okay after. ;)

Hoping everyone in the path stays safe and sound, along with everyone they care about.

All is well so far, I'm a little bored it's just me myself and I. I cooked up a storm (no pun) 2 slabs of pressure cooked ribs, pan of orange chicken and a pot of rice that can serve 5 for 3 days easy. On the ribs I like it spicy but took it easy this time in that this hot sauce is so damn hot.....it's hot going in and hotter coming out.

Florida police have warned people not to fire their weapons at Hurricane Irma after thousands responded to a Facebook event.

"To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma. You won’t make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects," the Pasco Sheriff's office tweeted late Saturday.

The Facebook event is titled "Shoot at Hurricane Irma" and over 50,000 people have expressed interest in taking part.
