Not sure of the validity of the polling, but moore is up 5%. Want a what the holy shit moment? When asked, 29% were “more likely” to vote for Moore as a result of the recent allegations.
this is what I can't wrap my head around. I have read that over and over again over the last little while. Why the fuck would they be MORE LIKELY to vote for him as a result of the allegations? are they too stupid to understand the question? Or do they think this is sticking it to liberals because they believe it to be "fake news"? or are they just really fucked up people?

i think you answered your own question
Every time I hear one of his surrogates being interviewed on CNN or something I just want to throw up. They just keep saying "I know Roy Moore--he would never do this. He's a man of God. This is fake news! Gloria Aldred made up the year book! All these women and all those other 30 corroborating witnesses are lying! New York elites aren't going to tell us how to vote!"
The level of stupidity and stubbornness is overwhelming and it's just sad and disgusting.
It should also be telling to these people in Alabama that Moore was afraid to debate BEFORE the allegations came out...but of course, it's not telling to them.
The reasons for his resignation were not immediately clear as the news broke. On Thursday evening, a group of conservative House Republicans gathered around Franks on the floor and prayed with him. Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, one of the members who huddled with Franks, told CNN that a statement is coming out shortly on the issue.
It is unclear exactly why Franks is stepping down, but one Arizona Republican said there had been rumors of inappropriate behavior. The Republican said the congressman had apparently been making plans to run for Senate in 2012, but abruptly canceled those plans.
While a statement like that doesn't make some a racist on it's own, it does show a clear level of disconnect that doesn't belong in a US senator.
The republican party has decide to do whatever it takes to "win"...and their definition of winning is apparently:
1) Have White house 2) Have majority in Congress
That's about it really. Cause they clearly aren't fiscally conservative anymore (as a whole anyhow). Tax breaks are terrific....but they shouldn't add to the debt...unless you are in a situation where you need to do that but the economy is pretty good right now.
And I'm very afraid of where the Dems will take us if this finally breaks and they are able to use all this crap for a political victory. But not as afraid of them as the Rep and what they seem to be doing. Ugh.
Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) resigned from Congress Friday, despite his earlier announcement that he would step aside next year.
The Associated Press reported Friday that a former aide claimed Franks offered her $5 million to carry his child. Politico reported that aides “were concerned that Franks was asking to have sexual relations with them.”
Sources also told Politico that Franks tried to convince a female aide they were in love by showing her an article about how to know when you’re in love with someone.
Franks denied the allegations in Politico’s report.
In a statement Thursday, Franks had said he would leave Congress Jan. 31, and acknowledged the House Ethics Committee was investigating his “discussion of surrogacy with two previous female subordinates, making each feel uncomfortable.”
On Friday, however, Franks said he would leave immediately, noting that his wife was admitted to a hospital in Washington, D.C., the day before “due to an ongoing ailment.”
“After discussing options with my family, we came to the conclusion that the best thing for our family now would be for me to tender my previous resignation effective today, December 8th, 2017,” he said.
The House Ethics Committee said Thursday that it will investigate whether Franks “engaged in conduct that constitutes sexual harassment and/or retaliation for opposing sexual harassment.”
Franks, an eight-term congressman, is a social conservative known for championing anti-abortion legislation.

The theme of minimizing slavery and it’s effects is common with racists.

They really have no principles left. Pro-life hastening the End of Times? Now, that's what everyone should get behind. Has Boehner chimed in of late? Who thinks he's quaffing beers and golfing with Barry O, yo?
And they're winning. It's their country. And it always will be. Whatever principles the right had (small government, low taxes, etc.) have been replaced by one principle: "Owning libs." Owning libs is driving our country. It's all that matters and all that ever will.

How do you figure it’s their country? They’re losing spots at the state level and fewer people are claiming to be republican. trump’s approval is naturally in the gutter. what they own is due to low voter turn outand gerrymandering.

Roll and revel in it now, like a dog that rolls in shit because it ain't going to last once the Cletuses wake up and realize they've been had. You know, those coal miners, Carrier employees, folks who lose their health insurance, medicare/medicaid and food stamps. And pay higher taxes on top of it all because the tax burden will shift from the Feds to the local level, on top of just losing the tax game.
The GOP has a bunch of problems, including these: Its signature bill is a dud, it is shedding voters and it is led by someone who, in the midst of a cultural revolution regarding sexual assault, is widely believed to be a serial sexual predator.
A new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds just 32% support the GOP tax plan; 48% oppose it. That’s the lowest level of public support for any major piece of legislation enacted in the past three decades, including the Affordable Care Act …
Americans are skeptical of the fundamental arguments Republicans have made in selling the bill: A 53% majority of those surveyed predict their own families won’t pay lower taxes as a result of the measure, and an equal 53% say it won’t help the economy in a major way. … Overall, only 35% believe that the bill will boost the economy, and 31% that their own families’ tax bills will be lowered as a result. Nearly two-thirds, 64%, say the wealthy will get the most benefits; just 17% say the middle-class will.
The poll also shows that while sentiment about the economy is very positive (56 percent), voters’ opinion of President Trump continues to deteriorate. (“Trump now has a favorable-unfavorable rating of 34%-58%, a net negative of 24 percentage points. His standing has worsened through the year, from a net negative of just 2 points in March and 15 points in June.”) The Republican Party as a whole has a dreadful favorable-unfavorable rating of 24 percent/61 percent; almost as bad as Congress overall (17 percent favorable to 64 percent unfavorable). Democrats do somewhat better (36 percent to 47 percent).
Trump has managed to intensify support within his narrow base but is alienating more and more voters away from the GOP.

I'm sure, actually its brilliant, that Trump as the party's defacto leader will lead to many gains in the house and senate during the midterms and he'll ride a wave of Trump enthusiasm to re-election. Ultimately this will result in republicans holding power for a generation. Or some shit that was spouted about 10 to 11 months ago.
