Inflation has really done a number of the price of a Pizza.

What used to be a "cheap" take away option, is now way to expensive.
    It's become stupid expensive.

Flour, sauce and cheese. It was literally the cheapest thing to make for years.

This is the #1 reason I started to try and make pizzas at home. If you have a pizza stone/steel and an oven, you can watch a few youtube videos and be on your way.

You do not even need a stone/steel. Good bread, a little Rao's and cheese. You are good to go. We make them with french bread, bagels and tortillas as well. Top with whatever you like, usually black olives or canned artichokes in our house. A basic large cheese pie near me is $28. Yeah no thanks.

I used to make pizza bagels all the time. They are so good. But in the past few years I have cut down on carbs so bagels are now just a once in a while treat.

I decided to order from Taste of Chicago too. I ordered 6 and a FREE one comes with the order. 7 pizzas for 139.99. I don't eat pizza every week so that will last for a while.

Yes, thanks to whoever (Speedy?)  suggested Lou's from Taste of Chicago.

Yeah, $4 slice doesn't have the same ring as $2 slice, does it?
The best pizza near me is now $35CAD for a large. It's insane.

I forget what a whole Pie cost, but I remember I could get 3 slices and a soda for a little more than a Dollar.  30-35 cents for a slice. I forget what a soda cost but my guess about 25-35 cents. FREE Refills.

As a kid I went to Friendly's and got a frank, fries and a Junior coffee Fribble for $1.09. Had change leftover to buy some now and laters. But I could also go to Papa Ginos and get a cheese pie for about $5. They had good jukeboxes.
