Fun post - thank you! I just don't see how there can be any doubt about #1, it's the rest of them that are rather vexing
1) Empire Strikes Back 2) The Burbs (seriously) - when you're stressed out, plow through a bag of frosted circus cookies and watch this movie, you'll see what I mean 3) The Big Lebowski (can't pass up the single greatest dialogue-driven movie of all time) 4) Unforgiven (Tombstone and True Grit, the original, are pretty great too!) 5) The Goonies (I grew up in Astoria where it was filmed, while it was filmed... can't help it)
Close calls: Shawshank, Caddyshack, LotR: Return of the King, The Shining, No Country for Old Men (so good!), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (my cat's name is Ferris, my first dog's name was Cameron, and my current dog's name is Gracie, after the receptionist... she earns it daily... Grace... GRace... GRACE!!!!)
1. Fight Club 2. Empire Strikes Back 3. Ferris Beuhlers Day Off 4. Christmas Vacation 5. Tombstone
How could the Sausage King of Chicago NOT like Ferris Beuhlers Day off?
1- Empire Strikes Back 2- The Quiet Man, this John Wayne flick cracks me up. 3- The Princess Bride 4- Dodge Ball, sorry but Steve the Pirate kills in this. 5- The Matrix

In order (but it got really really tough after the first 2... I figure there are at least 20 other movies that I could easily switch into the last 3 spots, many of which others have already listed):
1. Last Night (1998, Don McKellar) 2. Goodbye, Lenin! (2003, Wolfgang Becker) 3. Schindler's List (1993, Steven Spielberg) 4. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981, Steven Spielberg) 5. There Will Be Blood (2007, Paul Thomas Anderson)
