Hard to believe KFAD turns 30 this month. What a f’ing album that still holds up to this day.

Bill Gould recently talked about it here. https://youtu.be/rrPnSfeJ64g?si=BrRYyulWhg6pi2sy
    Thanks for posting!  Watching now.

Damn that’s crazy. I wasn’t a fan of this when it initially came out. Angel Dust was like my music bible when I was that age so this one didn’t grab me until a little later on. Still holds up to this day though. Fantastic album.
AD had a huge impact on me too, & while KFAD had a different feel, I had no doubts about the material after seeing them that spring. The 3 album run FNM had from TRT -> AD -> KFAD is pretty much untouchable. While 100% of the songs haven’t aged that well (looking at you Underwater Love & End of the World) they’re still play through albums for me.

I only watched once, it felt like it was already wrapping up when a reunion was mentioned.... but yeah, Billy wasn't entertaining that conversation. I'd be surprised if he didn't make that clear before even having the interview, hence waiting until the end to bring it up.

I always wondered what could have been had they figured things out & kept Spruance. That dude's such a creative force & had a huge impact on KFAD's final product. I think I read somewhere once that he pushed Billy to bring Take This Bottle to the table (Billy didn't think the rest of the band would go for it), and also did all the arrangements for Just A Man.

Who knows what else they could have done; not that they don't still break up 4 years later, but Album of the Year sure as shit would have been different with him involved).

I hope there are more KFAD anniversary related things in the coming weeks.

Yep. Not a weak link on the album.  And a perfectly constructed song order!

same. I didn't even take another look until a friend of mine whose musical taste I deeply respect told me it was his favourite. I'm like "what?". And yes, it did grab me after I listened to it without thinking of the AD lens. Bucket list band.

I enjoyed this listen very much, except when he discussed the current status of FNM. He went on the record to say that Patton's willingness to book shows and tour w/ Bungle but not FNM was something he took personally. He didn't say it was over, but it doesn't sound like there's any sort of communication or interest from Patton on the matter, so I take that to mean there's not much chance of anything happening anytime soon (if ever).

Really sucks to hear that. Mike just isn’t one to do something his heart isn’t in I guess.

    Yeah, it's a bummer.

You should give it a listen, as a drummer I think you'll have an extra appreciation for it.

That darn last record left me hanging. Really enjoyed it and felt like a rebirth of sorts. Happy to have had that. Now I can still check out all the other fnm stuff I never did. Or nor.

Angeldust & King For A Day aren't just my favorite FNM albums, they're two of my favorite albums ever by anyone.

& Everything's Ruined is probably my favorite song ever, full stop.

Never say never, Patton might need another payday before all is said & done.

I’m with you. So grateful for all the shows I saw on the reunion. They were in top form. Sol Invictis was the cherry on top
