Clicked on the link. Article has been taken down. Apparently the identity of the blogger can't be identified

    Hmmm strange.
    Wait, no it isn't.

It was a wacky fringe belief posted on a blog, which was taken down when people who weren't wacky fringers read it.
It would take a wacky fringe believer from the other end of the spectrum to take it seriously as a representation of anything beyond a wacky fringe.

HuffPo has a ton of weird blog posts. I didn't expect that people would take them seriously as "news" at all.

They made it viewable. They endorsed it.
  • oftenreadingoftenreading Posts: 12,845
Was there a comment to the effect that they endorsed it? I would assume this, like many of the blog posts, falls under "opinion expressed do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the organization".

Further thoughts - yes, by putting it on their site they made it viewable and accessible by a wide audience. I think it's naive to believe that means they endorse the idea itself or think it would ever possibly come to pass. I think it means that they judged it as controversial enough to guarantee discussion and increased traffic on their site and a small amount of outrage in certain circles, but not enough to damage them. The perfect click bait.

And also perfect for furthering their agenda. Test the waters, if nothing else they can remove it and claim it was an unendorsed blog post. But it still gets the idea out there, gets them talking, and before long someone like Hillary Clinton thinks she can gain one vote by it and boom, it is the party platform.

Yeah, sure, that's the next party platform. A guaranteed winner.

And I return to the fact that this wasn't even suggested by an American, for the US. The rest of the world can have independent thoughts about their own countries without it revolving around the US.

A simple, "You're right. I'm an anti American fascist ahole. What Have I done?", would have been just fine. I hope you don't ever breed. You got a problem with me and others not normalizing this? Kiss my ass.

This thread is dead anyway, so let the lock begin for scrubbing.
    It's a hopeless situation...
  • Honestly... I think it's a little unfair to paint Unsung as he has been painted recently given his posting history.

He has an alternative point of view and even though he hasn't done the greatest job detailing it recently... it's important given it's one of the few coming from that 'alternate dimension' that doesn't look like hieroglyphics or a kid's drawing when presented in these threads.

Actually it's quite fair. His posting history is full of Trump apologist crap. Ron Paul wouldn't want someone like him in his fan club. I'm equal opportunity towards the crap on both parties. He has no excuse.

Now that Alex Jones has been been unmasked as a total charade, will InfoWars disavow all of his articles and opinions? Not likely.

That's the difference between what you call real or fake news.

So if a real news organization publishes a fake news article and retracts it, are they now and forever fake news? Are they fake-fake news? Fake news that's been un-faked? Do 2 fakes make a right? Or is it more like a double negative?

    ...ok....just so I follow....

news media with an agenda is fake
all news media outlets have an agenda
    ergo, all news is fake

that pretty well sum it up?
