Anyone heard anything about a “Without a Sound” reissue?
Not a thing. It's an album that often gets ranked on the low end of things. It's not my favorite but it's also one of those records that is great for the right mood. I think J may have been aat a real low in his life at the time. Isn't this around the time that his mother suddenly passed away?
Did you guys see that Sebadoh (Lou Barlow's other band) is releasing a new album and touring?????
Yep, I already have my order in for the tri-colour vinyl
Ordered my trip color vinyl as well!!!! I also bought tickets to the show in Detroit!!!!

Fantastic! Great photos, thanks for putting them up here!
And oh man, he has two of those fantastic Gibsons! A lot of set-up there for one guy and a guitar, lol.

"Drifter" into "Heal the Star" reinforced his place among the all-time great guitarists for me. Saw him earlier on this tour. Fucking incredible.

This is great. Also, "Earthless Meets Heavy Blanket" - In a Dutch Haze is worth checking out. All instrumental, live. These guys all played top level music for an hour long jam that is ultimately one song.

There's a review of that record I read somewhere that claims Heavy Blanket is really just J by himself. Could be. I like the reocrd/love the cover, but it's a bit much to listen to both sides all the way through, yet... (see below)

...yet, I have no problem listening to all four sides of Earthless Meets Heavy Blanket, In a Dutch Haze in a row. It does require setting aside a bit of time, but worth it! That must have been a cool gig to go to!

Yeah that was some pretty impressive guitar work for sure!!! I kept expecting a string to snap.... So many amazing sounds coming out of one dude and his guitar.
Forgot to add that Repulsion was thrown in at the end before Just Like Heaven as well - such an awesome gig in a really cool & intimate venue

Check out J's new cover of Tom Petty's 'Don't Do Me Like That'
Love it! Hopefully it will be released as a 7 inch single!

This just makes me love J even more. He’s rescheduled his Berlin show so he can go to a Neil Young show on the same night!

goldrush Thanks for the heads up! I really have to ponder this one. I have all of those albums and a lot of the extras are live things that I have either on 7" singles, EP's or CD. I'm not sure at this point I can justify buying any of these, but that's not a promise, haha!

These would be nice to have. I'm in a similar position as brianlux, though. I already have these albums on CD and on vinyl.
Still, having the bonus tracks bundled with the studio albums is appealing.
Dammit J, you marketing genius!
Yeah, I know exactly what you guys mean. When I was posting them earlier I kept thinking, "I don't need these... but I really want them!"
If I were just now becoming a Dino fan I would for sure be able to justify the expense. But because I already have the four core albums on both vinyl and CD and have some of the bonus material as well, I have to look at it this way- for a little over $120 plus shipping from England to the U.S. west coast I might be getting an albums worth of new-to-me material. It would be fun to have these, but I just can't justify the expense. For that much money. I'll wait for the next Dinosaur Jr release PLUS at least a few more albums I don't already have.
