Maybe this has always been true but if so the internet magnifies it a ton...but we just don't have the capacity for nuance.

and the joke wasn't even about that. she COMPLIMENTED her eye shadow. the joke was burning the lies to turn them into "the perfect smokey eye look". it's amazing to me that republicans are not only turning this into an appearance insult and are outraged by it, but these are the same assholes who have been saying "fuck your feelings" and "snowflake" for the past two years.

    Un-fucking-real.
This is true. People that were calling people
snowflakes and then upset at this are hypocrites. As are people upset about the snowflake comments that think this comedian didn’t have some jokes out of bounds.

She's a comedian. With a reputation for crude humour that pushes boundaries. At an event promoted as "celebrating the first amendment". With precedence for poking fun at any and all members of press and politics. In celebrating that first amendment, people are welcome to spare all the time and energy they want discussing the appropriateness of the commentary, but the rest of us are also welcome to care or not care, and engage each other about that appropriateness socially.

I think the intent of the term snowflake and what Wolf did on stage are actually polar opposite in intent. One is an expression designed to deflate someone to the point where they feel the need to suppress their own social commentary. The other makes a bold point that as a nation, freedom of speech is welcomed. The great outcome of polarizing speeches like this, is that we all receive a reminder that tone and decorum matter, and can serve to persuade or dissuade others from coming around to your own way of thinking.

I think it was the republicans plan going in to turn even the slightest "appearance" type of joke into something HUGE and make it be a news story for a few days. Why else have Sanders go and sit right up on the front? Nobody went last year. They made her an easy target. The resulting verbal diarrhea we've had for the last few days plays well with their idiot 30% base.

And we're all dumber as a  society because of it.

Not just dumber but a step closer to the death of legitimate media. It's a check against presidential/government power and it's just starting to go away.

Another funny moment, if i remember correctly, she did a fat joke about Christie and the cameras
Panned over to him and he was shoveling food in his mouth. Lol

Edit:I was wrong. I checked the tape it was a different part in the routine he was shoveling the food.

Edit 2: I checked the tape again and the shoveling of food shot is about 10 seconds after the fat joke. So about the same time.

Where the fuck is George Carlin when we need him?

Comedians are SUPPOSED to cross lines and push boundaries... because humans are generally stupid and need to get over ourselves...

Why is the media releasing these questions from Mueller?  Isn’t integrity of the investigation important?

The media absolutely sucks right now.  NBC spreading essentially gossip about the chief of staff.  It is disgusting.

The bigger question is, why is the White House releasing these questions now? The media doesn’t make the news, they just report it. Clearly someone in the White House has an agenda.

Why is the media releasing these questions from Mueller?  Isn’t integrity of the investigation important?

The media absolutely sucks right now.  NBC spreading essentially gossip about the chief of staff.  It is disgusting.

As distasteful as it's been and if you can get past hearing him stammer away his moronic ramblings... Trump has been entertaining.

Remember when he was the trucker (vroom vroom)? The hand shakes? There's so many you forget about them.

Lol. F**k is he an idiot.

Ghouliani thinks coming clean and getting this over with is the best approach except he doesn’t realize the depths of Team Trump Treason’s depravity. He still believes in the myth, which is easy to do when you don’t have a soul.

and the joke wasn't even about that. she COMPLIMENTED her eye shadow. the joke was burning the lies to turn them into "the perfect smokey eye look". it's amazing to me that republicans are not only turning this into an appearance insult and are outraged by it, but these are the same assholes who have been saying "fuck your feelings" and "snowflake" for the past two years.

Bold point? Hahaha that’s awesome! Bold point.....holy shit. I’m surprised that everyone forgets what free speech actually is when they are pissed off at responses to someone...that’s free speech too :)
By all means it is! You're more than welcome to disagree with me on any topic under the sun, and you have full rights to think she was disgusting if you'd like.
I didn't say she was disgusting.  I do think some of her jokes were out of bounds.  I think it was a very stupid play by the media to give the trump supporters any ammunition, and they just gave them a lot.  Not sure why the media was so stupid.

I found some of her jokes to be hilarious, some out of bounds, and 1 just plan sick.  Oh and her voice is super annoying ;)

Oh now isn't this just so precious?

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

I have no problem with either.  In the “land of the free”, I believe it is fine for anyone to mock, speak their mind against political leaders (as long as they are not making legitimate threats).  It has happened since the first president.  I may not be keeping up, but I haven’t come across anyone in my regular day life that has expressed outrage over this.  It seems non-important and like hype, or a distraction.  Regardless, if people are butthurt, they are being babies and should move on with life.  I may not always agree with what people say, but firmly stand behind their right to say it.

I don’t always understand the whole media giving trump supporters ammunition thing. They shouldn’t report on criticism of trump in order to be more sensitive to their feelings? That’s exactly the response trump wants in his attacks on journalists. He wants one of the checks removed from the system.

Not that. They should. They probably shouldn’t have hired that comedian for the event. That’s what I mean. People are going to say - see that’s the talk they are ok with. Maybe I’m wrong, just my initial impression.

I feel like every time the Hillary Clinton thread is above the Donald Trump thread it's a collective loss for the board. So...

    BUMP!
